just hit a curb

Hello

because of the snow, i skided into a curb and somthing snapped. basciyl i can move the front wheel left and right so its touching the arches. what could be broken?

as you can see on this pic the wheel is basicly touchign the front bumper

then i can move it to the left so its touching to arch

Doesn't tend to do the chassis mounting points much good either. I bent one a lot less than that and it was never 100% right again.

Depends how much damage is done and whats shafted, if the subframe is bent then a fair bit.

snap !!!!!!!!

just did the same myself. understeered into a high kerb on petrol forecourt.

slight front bumper, wheel, mashed foglight and damaged wheelarch liner.

steering to the left heavily. checked one side to the other and the bottom arm is bent

could be worse i guess.

where is the best place to get a new bottom arm ? seen them for £50 on fleabay.....

my machanic had a look at it. he said it needs a new wheel, lower arm, ball joints and get tracking re done. should be about 200£

I've done this to a previous car, cost me about £950 to sort out. Almost a write off, although mine did look slightly worse than that. Fixed it but as someone already said, was never the same again.

Might be worth cutting your losses mate, have you asked advice at a garage?

Can do it your self for around £100 ? so £200 for some one else to do it sounds good.

I have been checking some old posts and have noted that the subframes suffer when attacking kerbs.

I have had a quick check side to side on mine and as far as i can tell it all looks good.

When a subframe bends from a heavy kerbing where does it tend to bend\twist ?

lol i nearly hit a curb coming down my road a minute ago, i braced my self, 1 inch from hitting the curb i went over a drain and it chucked me across the road lol was wel wierd

I done the same just before new years eve in my saxo.

Wishbone was bent like a farking bannana. Needed a new alloy,tyre,wishbone and stabiliser rods.

Ordered a new bottom arm for mine today. Should be a straight swap.

FYI the arm was £54.90 + vat
