just how fast are ITG

come on no bull sh*t

i want to know how fast these things really are

anyone on here owned one before

ive heard there faster than a scort cossie to a ron

ill post what i think after some of u lot have replied

im thinking of getting one

wongy

  williams and trophy

well wongy mate im not surprised the beat an escy coss to the ton.........

so does my willy...... well up the strip anyhow.........thats a bog standard 1 anyway

2live

cmon a willy is fast but not that fast. your telling me a willy will catch a cossie after losing initially at the start. dont think so mate

wongy

you mean a teggy type R?

ive beens eriously looking at these, a williams is nice, cheaper and smaller, but......its not 200bhp. and its not 9000rpm, and it doesnt have the parts availability.

Besides, i think the real clincher is that i can get in the engine bay!!!

prices vary ALOT and some older ones are asking 11K whist some newer ones are only 6K.....DOH!?

But, i think it would be an ace car.

  mk2 172

im with jon on this, our 0-100 is at least a second faster than the cossie, they to 1/4 in 15.0, we do it in 14.8. so yes, it would be a passing job.

until you mods it to the tits, with the more available parts, 220bhp is easy, and a jackson supercharger is only a kit away!

anyway, they are real tail ahppy supposely which i like...

Remember escort cosworths arent fast fast, standard ones anyway, struggled past 140 and 0-60 was about 6.7 to 60 so would be a close call.

ITR have the best sounding 4 cyl!! There is little understeer so youre right Ben oversteer isnt that hard to get. It also has the coupe shape which is nice, but day to day driving would get annoying, peaky engine, so no pull unless ur in the right gear plus interior is crap!

no boterd about interior, and peaky is lovely........BTW, i love strokers....so its natural to me.......a torquey motor feels like its understressed and boring......bring on the VTEC

i saw a dyno chart of the new ITR with I Vtec .. the torque seems to be quite flat . i will drive one after i head back to NZ see how it goes

Ben u r right heaps of parts for Jap cars. I think i will still keep it N/A though :p

Rob wut about a S2000 2.0L Vtect 9000 rpm engine that should be even better

IT is!!!!!

250bhp, and a stonking chassis!

i think perfornance hondas are class.....except the NSX.....poo

I had an S2000 behind me this morning, looked like 2003 spec model as it had extra little bits. I think they look superb, a shark like look. Dont know much about them? Why arent many sold over here in the UK?

Ben, i know what you mean, peaky engines are more fun, and feel more up for it but sitting in a traffic queue on a foggy rainy day at 7am gets annoying. I like my road cars to be a good comprimise, i think the 172 is a better one. Youre being unfair on torque, its a great feeling, good ol mid range surge!

Whats wrong with the NSX? EVO rated the new type r better than the zonda s! I saw a red one a while back and it looked fab

s2000s are getting common as muck round our way! Seen more of them than 16vs!!

One parks where i work with the number plate "S2000 RK"!! Yummy!

raced an Integra Type R a few months ago in my Willy engined valver (filter chip zorst), and can honestly say there was nothing in it! Which suprised the Honda, we raced about3 or 4 times over the space of 2-3 miles right round the clock too, just about topped out.

It was a friend of someone on this forum, who owns a megane, the integra was a red one, 197bhp standard, but with filter n zorst, sounded absolutely gorgeous! really really nice when revved :)

who is this mate of the integra driver then? (from the north east)

Wongy, wicked choice of car mate.... if i was in your position, teggy every time. its the ultimate bump up from a clio 16v 137bhp -> 190bhp is about right without killing yourself. However if you already own a 172.. should you not have considered this option before you invested Clio 172?

i also agreed about keeping the lump N/A.... however on the other hand just to get your tastebuds mosit.. have a look at this :-

:D

Topgear did a test on 172, ITR and Racing Puma. On the road the 172 wins, on the track the FRP was 2 secs quicker than 172 and the ITR with the 172 about half a second quicker as tested by tiff needles.

lol

seems the tegy r is a motor with lots of respect for what it is and i agree with benr, i love the fact it so street racer and stripped out,

anyway the reason im asking is that coz on new years eve i went out in my mates one and i almost pood my pants. it was so damn fast and really suprised me. yeah the book figures sayd not a lot in it with 172 but ive been in a passenger in both and the teg r is def faster plus i get to drive a 172 everyday and it really does not impress me sorry to say, we were 4 up in it and before the vtec it is quick but once vtec kicks in it takes offf like a bloody turbo, so amazing plus i love caining the tits out of my valver so i guess the honda vtec will suit me a lot. did not find it a problem with no torque as say like my valver. it pull strong from low down coz it revs sooo fast. i reall was impressed and there much faster than a ctr i test drove.

and you know what my mate got his for 6k and i can def afford to do the same sell mine and get one im need and extra 11k ontop of the price of my valver to get a cossie but with the itg i think 3k max will cover it. yes i want a cossie as its the ultimate bad boy car but if i cant afford one then im def getting a teg r for a new run around. plus its only 200 more to insure than my valver

get a white one. jap style zorst, viper ind kits, chip it and i could probably kill almost everything on the roads

wongy

is the itr only a 1.8? thats a lot of power from a small engine.

i suppose the s2000 is 2 litre and puts out 240 though, there cant be much room left for tuning (not for road use anyway)

NSX type-r is ultra cool, but if you wanted a car that was a rare expensive version, it might not be a good idea to start with a rare expensive car if you know what i mean.

isnt there an accord 2.2 type r as well? whats that like?

And you listen to EVO.....2 words......rock apes

and i read that articel last night, the FRP, ITR and MK1 172, and the jurno and VBH said the 172 felt more, well, faster.......but the problem lies in the fact that the ITR is far mor tunable....and yup, you can get loads more power out of it.

well, i just think it would be fun........and 9000rpm is more fun than 7750......

and itll probably break down less.......*touch wood*

Wongy, Ben R,

Do you know of any ITR sites / fourms for the integgy as like our own cliosport forum? i wouldnt mind having a nose and seeing what the owners have to say about their cars...

Cheers.

lol whats wrong with EVO ben? Its a good read..plus great photographer, and shows the cars i want to see. Do you mean their ablilty? Ive no idea what experience they have but overall its my fave mag

....including yourself Wongy if you arent careful!!

rob, the problem is that they know sh*t all about cars, and are probaly the worst jurno drivers in the UK, and possibly spain LOL.........well throw in indai for good measure.

their drifty photos, look like drifts, but are more commonly known as skids...and last for about 0.2 secs......

But granted, if you like pretty pictures.....its your mag..

Rockport http://www.honda-r.org.ukwww.honda-r.org.uk but they are a bit muppety.

  S2000

Whats wrong with the NSX Type R. Autocar were ulogizing over it, comparing it to a 911 and a F360.

Im not even going to start about EVO, you obviously have a long memory!

Oh and http://www.honda-r.org.ukwww.honda-r.org.uk = anally rentented!!

uh huh......

the NSX is good, but not my cup of tea..........got a good vid of the jap super race out of all std super cars....R32,34, evo, evo RS, RX-7, nSX, NSX-type R, ....the RX-7 won 2 yrs in a row!

I had my Integra Type-R before the Cup, did some track days in it and ran it for 26 000 trouble free miles. It is a no nonsense road racer, fearsomely noisy and hard, but with pinsharp handling, excellent, ABS equipped brakes and a stonking engine-gearbox combo.

In a straight line, my ITR was almost identical performance wise to my Cup, I clocked 6.7 to 60 in the ITR and 6.6 in the Cup.

Around the track, both are superb. If you buy one, you wont regret it.

However, I investigated the tuning route extensively, and if you want to tune your motors, I advise against an Integra. Exhaust an intake will cost you a fortune, and only give you another 5 hp if you are lucky. Someone I know spent about 4 grand on tuning, including racing cams, exhaust, intake, manifold etc, and came out with another 11 bhp. That sucks. So it is best left alone.

Good luck!

6.7 lol early large turbo escort cozzys are 5.9 to 60, and later smaller turbo ones are 5.7. Not too sure on the 0-100 times, but i think its around 16.9, and if im correct this is about 3 seconds quicker than a willy.

Arnt you lot comparing modded willys with standard cossys, this isnt fair:cry: mod the escort and you won;t see it for dust lol:D

  williams and trophy

mark mate my absolutely bog standard willy ran 15.3s all day @90+mph an it aint gunna take long to get it to 100 after that lol. so like for like (in mod terms) theres very very little in it only the 4wd system helping the coss to a better time

now with panel filter de-cat n s/s zorst it runs 14.8s with 100 coming up not long after

well

i think if i can afford a cossie then iits gonna be a ITG. lot of car for the money plus its a screamer whichi si what i like. tuneability is not a problem for me. its fast as feck out of factory so it will prob be left well alone anyway, just driven to the red line on every gear change. 9000 rpm now that is just mental
