Just ordered this TV... seem ok?

Oh no, not this again :(

If you do need SCART, *maybe* there will be some difference, but if it's just Sky HD, Xbox, PS3 etc, then stick with a £5 HDMI cable and be done with it.. ;)

Agree with you about the HDMI as in my experience there was very little difference between the cables we tested.

Scart though, the difference is night and day! You dont have to spend silly money though. We tested 1 metre cables from £5 to £125 and the best was the £40 QED Sqart. Colours are vastly improved, and Black is actually black, not very dark grey!

I agree not really any difference with HDMI but with scart it changes it a lot!

Told my mate that. He would not believe me went and spent £140 on 2 monster cables. I took my £5 one round to prove it to him. He wasn't very happy with the results. I then took the piss out of him for spending £140 on HDMI cables.

in some cases £140 on cables os worthwhile, but for HDMI its not, also, anyone spending £140 on Monster cables needs there head looking at! They are fooking awful quality!

really? i couldnt see myself paying 140quid for a cable! but as said at the beginning of this thread... i don't actually know much about electricals etc

glad the proper info seems to have kinda come out by the end of this post!! some of the posts on the first page were a little worrying!!
Don't want to offend anyone but seriously ....if you don't know or aren't certain say nothing or say I think or something like that, good friendly trusting bunch on here and someone could end up spending serious dosh trusting rubbish like that!! :)
top looking tv tho :)

Ok quick update. Got the TV... looks awesome.

Picture and clarity is very very good. I can only compare it to the plasma i had previously, and although i wouldn't say it was 10000 times better, it is slightly better in all aspects. I haven't even tried it in HD format though, so not exactly an indepth professional review lol. Nor is it on HDMI leads etc, just on cheap scart... but i can see a huge difference.

From what i can see, the build quality on this TV is brilliant. Its sturdy, weighty, packaged brilliantly, no rattles, no flimsy plastic bits etc. Happy so far :)

Need a bigger stand now though... :( more bloody money

Road Wars is in HD now on Sky One.. Lost in HD too.

Ch4 HD has some good HD content now as well.

There's quite a bit ;)
looking forward to ITV HD? Oh Sorry.......;)

LOL, I love the info people give out on here, i'm off to the AVForums to ask them about how the best way to upgrade my cars performance is.........

^ not sure who that was a dig at.... however if it was me for asking a question relating to TV's on a car club, maybe it's due to not wanting to join every single different forum each time i want to ask a question about something.

And what would the point of these technology/camera/computer etc forums on cs be if we were not permitted to ask questions relating to them? You should know this, you were a moderator or whatever, who would no doubt have been trying to improve the boards?

buttt.... on a nother note, i agree with some of the information i have had back being b****cks as i have tried to look into it further since and it was clear that it was turd. Which is annoying... but thats the chance i take asking on cs!

it wasn't aimed at you, it was aimed at the idiots who like to think they are experts in everything on their 100k CS wages and like to have a say on everything, even if they know nothing about the subject.

My saying i was off to another forum was just in jest that you could trust much of what was said in this thread.

There are some very knowledgable people on here for all things techy, its just there are also some car nuts that know nothing about technology but still like to comment, you just need to know who to trust.

I was always in favour of having forum experts so that people know who to trust more in threads when they answer, especially as we do have some very good experts on here but people don't know who is telling them the right or wrong info if they don't know about this stuff themselves and are just asking for advice.

thats my piece anyway, glad you are enjoying your new tv, i am looking for an upgrade myself, a nice 1080p, just don't have the room for a 46", looking at a 40 probably, a nice Sony W4000 possibly.

looking forward to Sky One HD? Oh sorry....... ;)
looking forward to Sky Sports HD1/2/3? Oh sorry....... ;)

Poor Dave, very poor :rasp:
i don't watch sport on tv and have all the Sky one shows I watch in HD so I'm happy;)

I personally think that what sky want sky get and itv HD will have to make it on to sky as they have the best range of HD channels so seems logical.

Best TV's on the market is LG and Samsung. LG make most of the components inside every TV. So whatever TV you are buying your pretty much buying an LG
