Just payed £3870 - SO DISSAPOINTED please help!

Ive just bought a 1.2 dynamique i was really pleased with it and thort it was perfect.

I took it out for a short while and turned the engine on and off a few times whilst knocking on for my mates (2 mins tops)

We then went into my mates for about half an hour, came back to my car turned the ignition and......

nothing?
All the lights came on and there was nothing wrong with the immobiliser!

we tried and tried but nothing happend so we got my mates care put the jump leads on turned the key... vroom stared up!

i took it for a little spin and then went home. Ive left it for an hour gone back to it and its started 1st 2nd and 3rd time with no probs....

what the hells going on??

Any help would be appritiated!

sounds like the battery went dead mate, id get a new battery to be on the safe side

how old is it? could simply be a duff battery,
I drove to the garage, got fuel, drove back, stopped at a shop, lights came on but "nothing"
battery was naffed!

to be fair... the live lead could of been more attached to the battery as it was a tiny bit loose and the battery was showing the black dot rather than the green.... is there nothing eles it could be!?

Nope no warranty on it, i just got it from a private sale today

The thing is

A) i dnt wanna waste 20 notes on a battery if dnt need 1
B) I act have a battery Charger... y not try that
C) how can i be sure its that!?

Batteries dont last for ever mate.
Maybe the last owner thought it was something more serious wrong with the car and got fed up and sold it lol

Fact, whenever you buy a used car you inherit all the problems the last owner didn't tell you about so over the next few weeks your going to notice things. Be grateful its just a battery, also check earths.
My 172 battery cost £60!

Go and visit the guy you bought it off tomorrow as he's a small dealer guy and mention the problems, hes more than likely going to be helpful and may even refund a small amount or pay for a new battery for example. Failing that just buy a battery... £20 is a small price to pay for a car fault, lucky it isnt £££'s on a new gear box or clutch!

try the charger if you dont want to spend the £20. but for me, i'd want to know my cars going to start when i turn the key and im not going to have to phone a mate to come and jump start it! especially with girls in the car....!

aparently average life of a battery is 3yrs? mine died after 4/125k but had started dying after 3yrs.

also the terminal conecting to the starter motor can come loose and cause it not to start.

check the feed from the alternator is connected ok, Im not sure if its the same on the smaller models but they do break away from the alternator!

Does sound like the battery fella - get the one from Halfords - I seem to remember that it has a better power output too!

I tried the whole battery charger. Deep charged it etc etc, did the same for my dads 4x4. Moral of the story... Just buy a new battery, Its pennies.

If you want to check its def the battery...Go to Halfrauds. They do free battery checks. Or atleast they do around here.

same happend to me m8, dont worry i was lucky it was only the battery, mines got further problems now its missing and a Engine Stop came up whist goin on the bypass had to pull over ignition off and away i went again.. so took it back to garage they need to put it on the Machine lucky i i got a warranty..

Charger is great when you have a healthy battery, however if it is at all dodgy, I would'nt waste your time. You payed £3870 for the car, what is another £20 !!! Half a tank of fuel versus knowing it will start everytime you come back to it....now let me think about that for another few days.....

When you tried to start it was there any tickover or was it just completely dead?

Was every single light illuminated or just certain ones?
