Just posting to say hello.

  2007 Clio 197
I recently Picked up a 2002 clio dynamique 1.2 16v, this my first car, and as such I am wanting to do as much of the work as I can to it. I have a good few plans for the car, it's done just over 71'000 miles, and has had 2 previous owners ( 1 old guy and an older woman previously). Its in what I would deem as alright condition. When I got it, it stunk of cigarrette smoke, and had a broken wing mirror, But I got a replacement wing mirror for £5 and repainted it. Also managed to finally get rid of the smell.

I have big plans for this car, and from what I have read on this forum so far, you guys seem to know your stuff :)

Ill post some pictures when the weather improves a bit and I can get it cleaned haha.

Thanks guys.
At the moment, I'm thinking, new alloys as my current ones have been royally trashed by the previous owner. I think he liked to grind kerbstones down with them. after that, Color matching all the plastic. New sound system with some sort of bluetooth connection for my phone, coilovers, rear tints, getting the seats completely reupholstered, or replace them with some 172 seats. Performance changes for me at the moment are unlikely to happen, due to insurance costs (I just turned 20), but at a later date, perhaps upgrading to the 1.4 or 1.6 engine with the upgraded gearbox ect. Replacing/repainting the front and rear badges because I hate chrome/silver pieces on black cars. removing some of the interior plastic trim and repainting it/replacing it, painting the brake calipers probably to match the front badge.

think that's about it.... for now :)

As I said though, this is my first car, and as of such I am going to be taking my time and doing most of the work myself where I can.

Ive uploaded a picture of it in its current state that I managed to find on my pc. Ive hid it in spoiler tags as its a rather large image, and I cant find the resize functions lol

Welcome mate.

Car looks good.

Mods wise - keep it simple, its not worth spending all your money on your first car, save the cash for something better.

Its worth paying the £12 for the membership fee as the for sale section is very busy and there are some bargains in there from time to time.

Enjoy the forum and if you have any question don't be afraid to ask! Always do a quick search though as chances are its been asked before!

Hi jameseboy! Car look nice and tidy! First thing I would check before mods etc on that sort of millage is that the cam belt has been changed (it should have been changed after 5 years regardless of the millage, but it may have been missed).

Hope you continue to enjoy it! :)

Yeah, one of the big reasons I went for this car, is that 1, I got it as a bargain, and 2. There is a Renault breaker just up the road from me, so I can get parts reasonably cheap. Also giving me the ability to learn how to do most of the work, and not have to worry too much if i mess it up :p

@The Fatty, Thank you. The car got a full service in may and a decent amount of parts got changed , including a new cam belt, alternator and a few other bits. The coil packs went a few days after I got it, which was annoying, and at the time, I didn't have a clue as to what I was doing, so that socked me £150 for that lol, but since then, its been smooth running.
