Just purchased Clio Sport 197 in Glacier White !

  Clio Sport 197
Good evening fellow Clio Sport enthusiasts !,

Just purchased a 197 after previously enjoying many miles of motoring in a 172, The time had come for us to part with her mainly just down to running costs, She was turning into a bit of a cash cow !.

Drove down to Sheffield today to look at this little beauty and within 15 minutes a deal was done and I'm picking her up next friday, I look forward to joining in the debate on all things clio.

Cheers,

I didn't want recaros, I've always found them uncomfortable perhaps that's just me though.....

As for the cambelt change I assume I just take this to my local dealership, Or would my local garage suffice, Sorry to sound dumb I just want to make sure I do everything by the book....

Cheers

Hi welcome to the forum. Regarding your question on cam belt change, providing your local garage/service centre is VAT registered this should suffice to keep the warranty this is my understanding of it being a mechanic myself albeit final year of apprenticeship maybe someone could confirm this? Hope that helped in some way and happy motoring :)

Thanks, I've used my local mechanic for the last 8 years so I'd rather send it to him, But we'll wait and see as we get closer to September

It's out of warranty now so that doesn't matter.

Depending on where you're based, there's a number of specialists dotted around. I'd definitely take it to one of those for piece of mind.

P.S. It's not a Clio Sport.

Recaros are a nice touch but the standard seats are very good. They do hold you in place quite well and are suprisingly comfortable.

Why are we saying the cambelt is due n September? It's an 08 plate, it's not due until july 2013 as far as I can tell?

I thought belts are six years or 72k on the 197, according to my service book they are anyway. Worth getting them checked at service of course!

5 years or 72k on the 197, they increased it to 6 years on the 200 as far as I am aware (weirdly it's the same parts on the 200 though??)

My book defo says 6 years, maybe it's because it's an 08 plate? Never mind, it will be done at its next service as I've just had the aux belt and pulley done, it was whining!
