K&N air filter - cleaning question

Ive just had a look at my K&N and its covered in crap (flys, leaves lol)

After cleaning it, can i re-oil it using regular oil or do i need the proper k&n shizzle?

And make sure you dont put too much.

just pop it into a bowl of warm soapy water. the gauze is quite delicate so dont rub it, just dunk it in and out. Let it dry naturally, and spray lighty with K&N filter oil.

if its just surface crap gently tease it out with a paintbrush, or if youve got access to a compressor blow it out (inside to outside) with a blow gun
