K-Tec stealth system knocking on my Cup..!?!?

  306 TD Slut
hi,
had my ktec stealth system fitted by k tec on my car the other week. and i have now noticed it knocks like mad when going over bumps. i now its not the tailpipe on the bumper as its miles away, i had two friends in the back of my car last night and the noise doubled!!

is this common and can i fix this, its really starting to hack me off. shouldnt have to pay nearly £300 for a system that feels like its coming off the car :( :(:(:(:(:(

i think it may be knocking on the real axle?

Mine made a horrible knocking noise, and i'm convinced it was knocking on the front subframe... luckily though powerflow fixed mine for free, by fitting me a stealth system :D do you get a waranty with k tec? if u do go back and get them fix it :)

take it back, or see if some uprated exhaust mounts will stop it moving around so much.

may have to make a phone call..

i doubt its hitting the front subfrae is it? its a cat back system. the rest is standard.. i.e the mani and cat.

the exhaust goes over the rear axle right(for some gay reason)? i guess it is that then. ot blowing tho may just need twisting round..

i do remember mine doing this when i had people in the car, all it involved was a slight twisting to stop it!

it'll deffo be hitting the axle.....with your mates sat in the back the rear of the car it will sit lower which will make the problem worse. my magnex took weeks of fettling till i got it right, had to trim 10mm off the flange at the cat end!!!

Mine does exactly the same. I've refitted it about 8 times now and still can;t get it right. Its fine while driving with 1 or 2 persons in the car may get the odd knock if I drive over a speed bump too fast.
Just anymore than 2 peeps and it starts rattling on the axle. Sounds like a bag of sh*te. I've never got round to trying to get it to fit properly I'm just living with it now.
Too far to drive to K-Tec from Notts to get it sorted.

Any suggestions would be cool too

Cheers
Rob

harsh but cut your losses, send it back or flog it on ebay & get a custom set up, ppl who pay £3-400 on any product shouldnt have to fiddle with it to get it to work properly. i went through months of exhaust rage, had to cable tie bits of rubber to stop the rattles & it never sat straight.

ive got my k-teck exhaust to sit straight and high it needs pushing back and you need to hold the back box right up to the bumper to a point where is bending the plastic tighten it up and voila job done

I bet your exhaust is knocking on the metal bracket which holds the exhaust rubber mount.

I've got a Stealth and it did exactly that.....fixed it by removing the bracket and filing the mounting holes out further so I could slide it further away from the bracket on the backbox itself.

Bit of an arse but works fine....no knocking anymore:D

Thanks Neil, I've already done that though m8 and its deffo not catching on the rear mount its definately on the rear beam and only when more that 2 peeps are in the car and also when going over speed bumps or big pot holes in the road.

Thanks

you've gotta push the centre section/back box joint together more (the joint above the rear axle)

Will give it a try Fred but if i remember when I tried this before it just brought the back box closer to the rear beam. Fiddly bloody things.

Funny thing was though when I first got it I took it to a local exhaust garage to ask them to try and fit it. They wanted to cut bits off it and add longer bits of pipe lol. The Guy was a bit on the retarded side though.

Cheers anyway. Will report back on how I get on.

that means the abch box needs pushing into the middle section more.... so it will sit lower, and the mid section higher. you can clearly see from the pics its sitting well close to the rear beam

Gonna give it a try. Only problem I see is that the back box wont physically go any further forward (Pushed towards the middle box) as its being restricted by the back box mount. I have adjusted the mount as far forward as it wil go and even drilled out the bracket so it will slide further forward.
I know what you mean though if it went forward about an inch or so it would be problem solved.
Only easy way I can see is cutting the back box mount off and welding it further back.

Any other ideas?

Sounds like the problem I had with my stealth.

I filed out the slots on the OE bracket so you could slide it further away from the backbox hangar.

Worked a treat...no knocks anymore.
