K - Tec want £96.60 for fitting?

  172 Cup
Out of curiosity I wanted to see how much it would cost for K-Tec to fit a upper gearbox mount and a lower engine mount, and the price minus the cost of the mounts is £96.60 to fit them both, Is this normal for a garage to charge this amount when ive heard there not that difficult to fit yourself?

Thought you said it was easy? Lol.

As above, they will charge a set rate based on how long the job takes in their books.
When did I say it was easy, I said ive heard its not a difficult job never a mention of saying its easy....

I know what you mean mate. But whether a job is easy or hard they charge per hour. They will quote you based on a time that they expect the job to take. Im not sure how long the job takes so cant comment on that. Maybe try phoning some othr garages to compare?

How much are the parts alone?

If it's only £10-20 more I would just get them to do it saves getting dirty and puts your mind at ease.

Thanks for not jumping down my throat with the reply, yeah Im going to ring around and have a look. To clear it up im not slating K tec in any way just wondering what sort of price is expected for the fitting of the mounts I stated.

They will charge for time (by the hour), not by how easy the task is.

Have you any friends that are mechanically minded that would do it for some beer tokens?

I'm based in the south, Poole area. Yeah I suppose an hours work isn't too bad as a price, electricians, plumbers, ect ect but not mechanics ha just my luck

The price quoted for fitting sounds fair to me, it's probably an hour or an hour and a half job.

Bit funny though that your definition of not difficult is not easy.

I've got a mate just outside of Poole who is a mechanic by trade and runs his own business, his labour rates are very good and even picks the car up and drops it back when the job is done, PM me if you want a contact number.

also remember Ktec like to call themselves a renault SPECIALIST. as soon as you put that word on the end you can usually add a few quid to price of things!! lol

personally i wouldnt pay £5 for someone to fit that kind of thing for me, id do it myself and feel a lot more at ease knowing i tightened those bolts up!!

Generally labour rates down that way are reasonable, but don't forget it's a specialist...says that in their adverts anyway

ktec band wagons back?

If your not happy with the price, then look around.
Do a little bit of research on here and you'll be given loads of advice on how to fit them.
You might even make a friend or two that will be able to do it for you for alot less...

Otherwise, take it to them and let them fit it.

Oh an seeing as your new, people on here have many varied opinions of KTR. The good reviews are outted...

I think people are misreading the original post.

He said the total price minus the costs of parts is 96.60.
I.E they are charging 96.60 just for the labour. Not including the parts.

Sounds like a lot to me as I just dont see how you can make that job last even as long as an hour TBH

Genuine question. Why the beef with K-tec? Just trying to understand, and it would prove useful to me and others to hear of your experiences/reasons. PM if needs be.Cheers.

They carried out a lot of work on my car a couple of years ago and cost me an arm and a leg for what turned out be sloppy workmanship. In a nutshell I needed a new engine due to defective product that they denied all liability for, my timing was out - I've needed to get a new wiring loom because they butchered it. I'm told it's all changed since then though!!!

It's not exactly 'bang wagoning' though really when you're trying to save people the same grief. Not exactly a couple of engine mounts I know, I'm sure they can manage that ok

Search Ktec customer reviews, you have to be quick though and look outside the Ktec section, that section is famous for vanishing acts on questions relating to the subject matter.

I had some 'Racing pads' off them that fell apart 6 months later, sent them back to be returnd to manufacturer and Ktec binned them without my permission, no refund, no apology, no alternative product. I put it down to experiance and have since had wonderfull dealing with other specialists.

As the largest company in the go faster clio market they are bound to have the most complaints about them but even despite that it does quite surprise me they are still in business with the number of people I see moaning about them, god knows how they manage to keep getting new customers at the same rate they seem to be losing the old ones, lol

I would say that K- tec are a top company in my eyes, no company has 100% happy customers its a fact of life.

I will say that as k-tec are all ex Renault and are better that a Renault dealer in my eyes, they know their stuff so maybe thats why they charge a little more

If you get a cheap friend of a friend fit it and something goes wrong.......... I know who I would want to fit my part!

They where offering 15bhp with their exhausts, I've noticed they now dont quote these figures though...

Come on lads, Ive had bad experiences with one or two of the tuners on here and some that you class as the better option to ktec.
Yet i dont come on here shouting about it and putting that person or company down, I had my thread about it all and it was done at that.

If you dont like some one then its simply put as 'in my opinion i would highly recommend.........' rather than slagging them off.

Surely this is called flame baiting?

but don't forget it's a specialist...says that in their adverts anyway

ANyway, to the OP.
I personally would be asking ktec why its so much if you dont like it, I am sure they will inform you.
If you still dont like it then you can either learn or find an alcoholic friend that will do it for booze tokens....
