Keep or Sell

Right, i have a choice... do i keep my current car (Mk2 1.4 16v "Rx4") and mod it with a few things like Suspension, skirts, IK, Zaust etc (already has new wheels)...... OR..... shall i get a Mk1 172 in January when my insurance is due for renewal.

Money isnt an issue really, i could afford both but unsure as there isnt really anything wrong with my car and i dont drive fast any more. I just love the looks/toys on the 172.

Dan.

I was in the same position.

My 1.2.. (youve probably seen it) and Engine conversion, coilovers etc.. or a faster car.

I bought a Williams..

Just worked out better.. cus I love my 1.2 (still in garage.. cus I aint got found to selling!) but, the Williams is something else.

Keep the Rx4 personally.

A 172 is never fast enough people always want more whatever they have so why go chase the hp spend the money on the 1.4 making it what you want rather than spending all the cash on a 172 which youll not be able to afford to mod as much.

Plus it should be less

Erm, Buy a Williams then? ;)

I dont think Ive ever driven it anywhere and thought "What a crap drive!". It never happens.. its just always fun.

Ok, it might not be MEGA Supercar quick, but its damn fun..

id keep the 1.4 - afterall i dunno about anyone else but my average speed on most trips is about 40mph due to speed limits and such......

thing is... i can get a Mk1 172 for as little as 5k now... so only an extra £1000 once ive sold my car....

its tempting but i dont know what to do.

oh and mike.... the Rx4 badge is coming! ;)

172, no doubt. It would be very hard to make it as fast in a straight line and it would cost a bit more money on top of simply lowering it to get it set up to be as fun/rewarding to drive opposed to just being able to corner as fast.

There are also factors such as the 172 looking better, and it also moves away from the boy racer image. The RenaultSport moniker is starting to to have an attached kudos with it, and you could own the original 172..

Mk 1 172 is ACE,

but i dont drive fast any more. I just love the looks/toys on the 172.

presuming you also mean you dont rev. the nuts off it, wot about a 2003 dCi 80 Dynamique? - most of toys CD auto wipers, auto lights, spots, alloys etc.

for same money as Mk1 172 youd get a MINT low mileage one with air and if you superchip it, they are feckin quick (similar mid range to 172 cos LOADS more torque - twice as much as a 1.4 petrol)
