Ive only had the Ph1 for 4 months and still very much love it but i usually change my car once a year (bad habit)...

Ive always wanted a Civic Ek9 in white and am thinkin about prematurley getting one, what does everyone think?

Yeah agreed but its that old story with the reliability front. And yeah fuel consumption is pretty horrendous for a n/a 1600cc from what i gather combined its little over 27mpg :(

Insurance is the same as the 172, ive looked well into it, its just a bit daunting buying somthing from over-seas!

I thought about these, a bit more common that the Ek9, although for about 6k you probaly couldnt get a more resonable front wheel drive car!

More tourque aswell but ive just always wanted the ek9 since Gran Turismo!

The ek9s quicker to 60 but the teg would have it to 100!

Teg also has the nicer cabin, better handling, and is easier to insure. Is the ek9 not group 20?

Yes yes and yes, ur bang on. Better handling id maybe put down to whos behind the wheel but thats neither here nor there.

Its love or hate with the Ek9 but im a lover:rasp:

lol, yeah thats the image am goin for...

Kitchen Sink drivin a Teg lol

You cant beat a Honda for an all-rounder the only thing that bothers me is that you have to severley spank its wee arse to get the most from it, thus making very poor MPG. Had a civic before the 172 and for build quality alone its a cut above.

Still i love the wolf in sheeps clothing effect of the "Ph-uck me was that clio?" lol

not a fan of the ek9, dont know if my mates is a duff one but its not as quick as my 172, although i suppose it does weigh a wee bit more with around the same power (they 180 odd bhp?)

The ek9 would comfortably beat a 182 never mind a 172.

I'm not sure it's capable of a sub 6 seconds to 60mph.

Yes, I know it's all over the internet but from what I've heard that was in a stripped car and driven by a Japanese guy who was 6 stone wet through.

I'm not convinced it's any quicker to 60mph than the Teg and with it ony being a 1.6, I'm sure it'd get it's backside whipped when rolling.

My money would be on a 182 posting a quicker 30-70mph time.

Well i spoke to a lad over at www.ek9.org and hes gonna take me out in his Ek9 at some point over the week end so i shall get back to you all with my opinion!

As for the Ek9 being quicker than a teg? I really dont know thats an open book as far as im concerned but im damn confident that it would shag a 182 as far as power to weight ratios go!

9 out of 10 EK9's are buckets. My mate bought one after seein 7!!! All sheds, even his isn't great. I drove it and it was crap!! So slow below v-tec no joke about VTR pace, fast on cam...Can't comment on handling as never drove it on A roads, but he had tannabe springs on it which reminded me of my old Pi's on the 1.2! Shockin!.

I'd steer clear fella!

  Turbos.
Remember reading an article online, i think a scanning from Top Gear, where they drove the EK9 and they said it handled badly compared to the DC2 Integra. Mainly because it was far too stiff IIRC...

As Ali says i went to a few import places to look at them before i got my 172 and they weren't in good nick, the interiors are like the Integras in that they don't last well at all.

Fair comment mate, there are alot of dodgy ones out there but id get a late auction grade 4 model straight from japan from a reputable dealer.

Same as all honda's mate even there motor bikes are the same, you have to rev the tiits off it to get it to move. I had a brief altercation with one and i got severley bum humped off it by atleast 4 cars lengths and i was caning it every gear but it just pulled like a train:eek:

All this said, it cant be slower or any less reliable than my 172....

Grade 4's fair enough...But the interior's will be a B at best. Mayb even a C...

Black ones are pretty rare, but like anything else mate if the cars been subject to neglect then obviously itll show its age. You can get ek9's that have 100k on the clock and look as if they rolled straight off the production line inside and out, if you know where to look that is!
