Key Fob thingy broke!!

My Key Fob has stopped working so have to lock the car manually.

Girly question probably but anyone know where I get it sorted?? Does it just need a battery or something?

lol Women FFS.

Undo the wee screw on the back of it and get a new battery. Done.

Edit: They must be gay then

Take it off the keyring first..

Just because three of the fucktards you work with can't perform a simple task of splitting a keyhead it does not mean its a main dealer job, lol.

there is no screw at the back and IT is off the keyring. I might be a woman but I aint f**king stupid, Ive tried everything to open it and its just not coming off. Ive just done a google search on "how to mend it.com" and it even says on there its not easy to do.

Are the fobs different i.e. could mine be different to a 172/182

I have a 1.2 and yes it was EXTREMELY difficult to get the battery out the first time, but it is do-able, the arrow on the back of the key shows which way to push that half, just find someone with strong fingers.

Have you ordered a batt Laura?

If you tell me the number i can post one down to you if needed?

As above it'll be a CR 2016, 2025 or even a 2032 IIRC.

For future knowledge:

To open the the back of the key put a strong key ring on (one that doesn't bend easily) and turn it sideways so that the key and key ring are at a right angle, then twist the key ring towards you with the arrow on top facing towards you aswell. If you can't find a suitable key ring then use a screw driver that will fit and leaver it towards you with the arrow on top facing you :)

Awww thanks hun, its CR2016 - I actually went to Tesco at lunch to get one and left with £30 worth of shopping and no battery

its probably not the battery, it will be the key, around £170 for a new one coded to your car

does it click when you press the button ?........chances are the button has come off the circuit board, or one side of it has

does it still light up, how bright is it ?

the key slides apart btw, if it wont, stick a screwdriver in the key ring gap and use that to help it along

Ive had it open and taken the battery out, however when the battery was in the light was no longer coming on.

Right I changed battery and its still not working - just rang Renault and they've quoted me £180 - £100 of which is for the key and £80 to code it to the car, does this sound right??

Brun works for Renault and that's the price he said it would be, plus the dealer you spoke to said the same so I would say so ;)

I guess what i was trying to say was is it possible to go somewhere other than Renault and get it cheaper or is it only something Renault can do?

Key you'll have to get from Renault as a used one I would imagine wont code. As for coding it I personally have no idea whether it's just a case of having clip (the Renault diagnostic tool) to code. Or whether it needs some other security codes only a dealer has access to. Might save £30 or £40 ish if you can get a specialist to code it I suppose.

Hi just had a problem like this with my key, price sounds expensive . i took my key to renault in shepshed up the road from me and at first they said they would try re code it to the car and could not so i did not get charged if it did work i think it was only going be something like 35 quid

ordered a new blip from them and it cost 98 pound in total had to wait about 8 days for them to get it in but once it was in they put the key bit from my old key on the new blip and recoded the keys to the car for no extra cost. so over all £98

I also had a problem with my second key where the button fell off but i held it in place with some double sided tape and soldered it back on and worked fine since.

you need the clip computer and the immob code to code it.

i watched them do mine and it takes no more than two minutes. luckily i knew a guy who done it for a lot les in total
