Hi, one of my keys unlocks teh car fine but wont start it, obviosuly something to do with the coding. Can anyone on here fix it or does it have to be a Reno dealer, also how much is it likely to cost?
DO a earch Im sure somoene else has had this problem over the past 6months.
Canot remeber what they were charged might be worth having a work with a Renault mechanic for a cash job its not a difficult thing to do just Renault charge for it.
I have a similar problem. Both keys start the engine but only one unlocks/locks the doors on my 99 clio.
The key lights up and I changed the battery so I called up my local Renault dealer and they said it sounds like it needs recalibrating and that it will cost 1/2 an hours labour which is £43 inc VAT.
Trying to search for a cheaper method considering they also quoted me £93 to replace my horn, £43 of that for half an hours labour. Took my brother less than 10 minutes to fit the horn that cost a tenner, and hes never worked on a Renault before. Total ripoff these places are
do u have a key that starts the car? maybe your spare?
the way i got mine fixed was this.... took both keys to my local locksmiths. He just copied the code from the working key and uploaded it to the broken key. He had the same machine that Reno use and he charged me £10.
Bargain! (providing u have 1 key that starts the car!)
cool mate. When i got mine done, the microchip was broken and he couldnt re-program it... so he put a new chip in and programmed it with the details of the working key.
