Well i thought it was about time i made up a project thread

the fiesta was great little car but after having my vrs before i realised the power werent enough so in march/april i started looking for my 172

come across this one on cliosport, 53 plate 60k miles, coilovers, prospeed custom exhaust, needed the roof resprayed due to some sort of bubbling but was nothing major

anyways heres the pictures before i picked her up

Re: Kieran's Iceberg 172 Project

i then realised the standard alloys were letting it down so to start with i thought id be a little bit different and went for some oz ultraleggeras

picked them up and they were red, fancied them white so next day i got set DIY respraying alloys and they come up well!

due to constant scrubbing i tried fitting 25mm spacers hoping that would work, it didnt but the stance looked bloody cool!

Re: Kieran's Iceberg 172 Project

so off they came and sold them:( i replaced with dark anthracite sheep alloys that i do also love

i also got rid of the hideous silver side repeaters for some smoked ones and i had a go a carbon fibre skimming my wing mirrors that come out dreadful! lol

Re: Kieran's Iceberg 172 Project

next i decided that i will strip out the rear seats and replace with a thin false floor

used 6mm MDF cut to size then bought some wadding and black nu suede from dunelm mill and covered it in that for a bit of a oem look lol

Re: Kieran's Iceberg 172 Project

Re: Kieran's Iceberg 172 Project

its not a cup front bumper its just got washer blanks put in

keechy its just coloured electrician tape lol

Re: Kieran's Iceberg 172 Project

Right guys I have now decided to carbon it all up:) the wing mirrors come out **** but it was my first attempt so I'm currently in process of carbon skinning my dash strips etc and making sure I get my high gloss finish this time!

So decided on all the dash strips, gear knob, steering wheel insert, fog surrounds, badges little rear bumper insert and next month get me a carbon spiltter :)

Re: Kieran's Iceberg 172 Project

all trimmed up and now on car:D:D just waiting on the stickers for gearknob, dash and steering wheel

Well the carbon rear insert and exhaust trim is all carbon'd up fitting it back on tomorrow

Also I'm putting the rear seats back in, just doesn't feel like a hatchback without them lol

Done a few other carbon bits, photos of it all tomorrow :)

Re: Kieran's Iceberg 172 Project

the pictures of mine and your car, my car sucks :P its so high hahah not long after i bought it ^^ its changed a fair bit gnna make a project thead later just need some pics of herr :D

Re: Kieran's Iceberg 172 Project

Thanks mate!!

The carbon is layed over the part after having a epoxy basecoat then a few layers of epoxy to harden then flatterned back an lacquered lol

It's extremely addictive though!!

Re: Kieran's Iceberg 172 Project

Thanks mate! Lol well yeaa maybe in time, they're not perfect as I hoped them to be tbh lol
