Knock sensor on modern Clios

  Megane 225

Does anyone know which of the modern clio engines (if any) has a knock sensor for determining which RON fuel is being used?

Mine has one and im having it replaced tomorrow because it kinda almost snapped off.

Thats on a 172 Mk2 btw.

Well, they called it a knock sensor anyway. Its just up and to the right of the oil filter.

They said it was to keep the car quiet (not lumpy) or something :-/

they all have knock sensors normally located in the head.dont know what you mean about the relation between the sensor and which ron to use.use whats recommended in your vehicle handbook.

the knock sensor cant tell what RON you use, but it helps when you use a poor grade or incorrect fuel by retarding the ignition when a frequency from pinking or knock is detected.

the modern petrols can run on super or normal unleaded anyway so i cant see any problems.
