Knocking money off renewal?

My insurance is due for renewal on friday.

I phoned up and asked how much it'd be and they said £455.70.

I haven't found anything to beat that, and I've searched a few companies.

Is it worth phoning them back and asking if they can knock anything off? Or will they not unless I can prove I've had a lower quote?

I have never had to send any proof of a better quote, but have always found someone that will beat the renewal price.

Of course! Only worth a phonecall, just say there is someone who has quoted £390 or something, but you've would ideally like to stay with yourselves...he'll just speak to his linemanager, but worth a try!

Whenever my renewal is coming up I get an online quote from the same company and then if its cheaper I phone them and they always match the price, coz nine times out of ten the automated renewal price is always going to be more than you should be paying! It saves me money every year!

I've done the confused.com thing, tesco compare, and then all the companies on their own websites lol.

I also did a new quote with my current insurer and I cannot get it to beat the renewal price. When I phone up I think I'll just say I've had a better quote and can they get it a bit closer to £400 and see what they say.

Elephant/Admirial/Bell always come out cheapest each year I just use them as my price match and jobs a good.

I always thought the little red phone men weren't competitive on young drivers. You learn something new everyday.
