Knocking Noise Clio 182?

I can here like a sort of ticking noise from inside the car and outside when I lift the bonnet near the drivers side?

It seemed to only do it on Idle and sometimes it doesn't do it at all?

Any Ideas?

Its an 04 plate 182 with 27k on the clock?

Not very If I get near the bottom of the car at the front I can hear it.

Sounds like its knocking on something or somethings slipping?

As soon as I give it a bit of a rev it stops? then when it settles back down again it starts?

Had this on all 3 of my clio sports. I think it is some sort of relay. Its quite a low noise isn't it? I know what you mean thou, dont worry about it.

Yeah its more annoying than anything - its like a tick tick tick.

Can here it inside the car very faintly then when I lift the bonnet I need to put my ear to the drivers side to here it.

But if I put my head under the car I can hear it more:dapprove:

isounds like its the charcoal filter if its ticking £50 to replace if i recall correctly

I got this exact same problem too on my 182. Can anyone shed more light on this? Gonna get it checked out this morning, will see what they say...

Its the aux belt/tensioner 100%, sounds like loud tappets when ticking over.
I had the same prob, replaced the charcole canister and it was still there.
Renault said there was nothing wrong with it and it wasn't till i had a 36 k service it went. They found it was loose and missing a bolt.

Carbon Canister - waste of time if its ticking just take it off

Put your ear on the drivers side head light as the carbon cannister is situated behind and down abit from there.
I changed mine..but still ticks. Renault said it was purging...I checked the pipes and got my cat tested and all was fine.
Renault have now given up and cant tell me what the matter is...im thinking of removing it.
