Knocking Questions Advice Please

  PH1 V6
Im pretty sure that my O/S lower arm needs replacing as i have bad clunking noises when traveling over uneven ground. on smoth roads its not really a problem. The N/S lower arm was replaced only a few months back. since then i have had both inner steering arms replaced also.

Now i have had the car into a garage who dont think there is any problem with the car at all. THEY MUST BE MAD! its clunks like crazy and i know for a fact it is NOT normal. They have said top mounts... however i know exactly what the top mounts knocking sound like and plus i can feel this through my feet which is why i think it could be the lower ball joint or bushes? the garage said it looked ok but obviously something isnt if its causing this.

My question is this.... what are the likely causes

Ball Joint (lower arm)
ARB bushes?
Top mounts (surely you cannot feel this through your feet!!!?)

Any help would be great thankyou

  Nothing at the mo :(
I still reckon its something down below mate... you can deff feel it through your feet cause i even felt it ever so slightly in the passenger seat.. its deff a bush of some sort

personally id check the mounts (wish bone and engine mounts)
dont think a lower balln joint would cause such violent clunking
i could be wrong but i personally havent witnessed it

the balljoints will clunk if they're badly worn. for the hassle involved, i'd remove the balljoint from the hub to check it (you'll be able to move the pin up&down if it's properly shot)

just to put an end to this thread....

I had the whole wishbone/lower arm replaced with new ball joint and it has completely cured the knocking!

Turns out the balljoint was shot which was causing knocking and vauge steering.
