Koni yellow rear fitting help

Car  Storm Grey 200
Evening all,

Took delivery of some new koni yellow shocks (rears) today for my 182 as the back right was shot.

The lack of instructions has dumbfounded me to be honest. So could use some advice on order of the rubbers, washers & nuts.

How does this look?

Any advice would be great, thanks

That looks like the right order from memory. Perhaps swap the 2 black rubber pieces around though.

Thanks for the quick reply fellas, much appreciated.

I presume the rubber gaiter currently on car fits between bottom plastic washer & first (small) washer?

Cannot wait to get the car up to scratch mind - handling nearly there now :-)

Yep fits between them mate. I recommend spraying wd40 on the rubber gator to slide it on, it was a pain in the arse when I done it.

any pics of said rubber gaiter?

dont these come with new rubbers?

I didn't receive any Brian, was going to use the original OEM ones currently on the motor.

A little disappointed mind, 190£ worth of kit you hardly expect to be missing instructions & recycle old parts.

I do the bottom one to 110nm but that's only because I couldn't find the recommended torque!

Thanks Ash, 110nm it is.

However snapping my breaker bar hasn't helped getting bottom but off! Argghh off to halfauds in the morning for a 26" bar I think.

Guys, need a massive bit of help!

Half way through fitting the shocks and cannot get the top nut on. Not sure if I'm just missing something so simple.

There just isn't enough room/thread to get the top nut on. So on the offside i removed the clip on the shock (can be seen in the pic on the shock above, to slip the washer and rubber on lower).

This means there is enough thread but cannot tighten nut as it keeps turning!

If anyone can help it would save my bacon

Had the same problem. You need to try and grip the lower parts with a pair of pliers or grips and then tighten it.

Right, just didn't wish to mark/rip up the shock.

Everything should sit above the circlip apart from white plastic washer? Just cannot get enough shock through to get nut on.

Its only when i remove circlip I can get enough shock up?

Sorry for all the questions, just struggling here.

This is how it looks with the circlip removed and washer fitted below (reading other posts I think it's wrong).

If I use the white adjuster to hold shock & open ended spanner, I presume that would stop it spinning? Just need it sitting correct first.

hope this helps....

yeah if the dampers on the stiffest setting it hardly moves.just dont tighten the last top nut up so it totally squashes the rubber under it otherwise it makes the rear end really crashy.

any queries pm me and i will try to help

steve

Cheers Steve, I got the set up right in the end.

However one of the shocks won't extend, even if I twist to softest setting.

So frustrating as its a pleasant morning for a trip out after a wash.

Fair play to Larkspeed, replacement shock despatched next day delivery, perfect service.

Desperate to get these on and have a little drive tomorrow evening.

Just finished fitting an hour ago Brian, just done half a tank of petrol as was having too much fun.

Missed the plastic washer off, as thought I had lost it. So will pop it on at weekend.

Huge thanks to all that helped in this thread!
