KTec Rotrex kit

I've been looking at the Rotrex kit for the 172 and 182.

I'd be happy with 240-250bhp, that would be enough for road and track to have a bit of fun without getting too serious.

However I like the sound of being able to use a standard clutch, is it true that they are up to the job?

I'd miss the aircon but there aren't many days its really required!

Are there any alternatives to the KTec kit available? Its pretty pricey and I've read elsewhere the ecu supplied is locked and I don't want to have to travel to them all the time to do things to it.

Also how good is the traction control with sticky tyres or would a Quaife be necessary? Tbh I could find this out by doing the engine upgrade and taking it out. No point spending £1500 upwards on the gearbox if I don't feel the need for it.

Traction and clutch will be fine.

Its a very expensive price for sourcing parts.

Do it yourself for half the price.

We should have a whole section on this site just for questions relating to avoiding Ktec tax, flol.

Personally I think a quaiffe is a good idea even on a moderate powered clio, in fact Ive just bought one for my mk1 and its only about 180bhp!

That's ok then, I'll be running AD08 or TR1R so that'll help.

I like the KTec setup as it has all the brackets, injectors, hard pipes with beaded ends. Don't like the price...

A rotrex setup alone will cost about £1500+vat, then the cost of everything else on top. and £1300 for a DTA S60 installed and mapped.

I don't suppose the kits come up for sale used very often?

I've sold three! Lol!

You can easily put it together yourself by buying piping and hoses off of eBay or ASH.

Rotrex is the biggest expense + £100 for an oil cooler for the supercharger.

You could do everything except management for less than £2000+VAT.

Injectors are about £180 from Renault I believe.

Brackets are the only things that are difficult to get hold of, Paul at RSTuning keeps stock of them I believe and they're good brackets.

I would run it on the Gen90 still but get your local mapper to map it.
