Just been perusing the K-Tec Racing site to see what goodies I can get for my Cup when itr arrives and spotted this...

http://www.k-tecracing.com/products/clio1/engine/ramcharger_induction_kit_1.jpg

Its very similar to the Peugeot Sport one that the 106 (GTi) Super Cup cars use and has been "cloned" by several other companies now and available for many more applications.

These really seem to work well from what Ive seen in the past and K-Tec state that these will be available for the Clio from mid July, so not long to wait. ;)

Best thing is the price...

...from £89.00+VAT (£104.58) for the kit!!!

:D

see other related post above. Hows this kit different from the standard airbox? what are you paying £104 for?? The viper/BMC allegedly provide heat insulation by using carbon fibre, and they contain a less restrictive element. The kit above is a plastic box and does not have the same sophisticated inlet management as the standard airbox. Youll almost definitely lose power. Just spend £35-40 on a replacement panel filter ITG/BMC/Green and stick to the original airbox.

phillip has got a point, with nearly all induction kits, you are more likely to lose power than gain it, all you will gain is a nice (to some people) sound! I think the only induction kit that has improved performance is the viper... but dont quote me on that..

Err...

This is an "enclosed" induction kit, that only allows cool air from the front of the car to enter the engine, it aint just another induction kit.

Its basically a clone of the ones used on Peugeot rally cars and theyre proven to give a good power gain on a 106 GTi, so why not on a Clio???

Well, it "should" be taking the air from the gap between the rad & the slam panel, as on the Pug, so not a problem, but seeing as how thats the only pic Ive seen of the Clio one, then Id like to have a look at one first...

Rich-D, from what ive seen there is no gap betwen the top of the radiator and the top cross member panel (slam panel?), certainly not on the 172 and I think the Cup is the same but without the air-con rad on the front?

Flying Scotsman - youre right, there isnt a gap, I should know, my car hasnt got a slam panel on it now at all LoL (but only whilst the tbs are being fitted)

Thanks for confirming that Roamer. So where does the cold air come from i wonder?

So whens the big day mate (TB Day)? Looking forward to seeing the pictures of this install .... and how long your front tyres will NOT last! LOL

that induction is a simota....k-tec just changed the name...i dont know if u can get simota in the UK but here in portugal they came out 3 months ago....so i bought one....;)....my car was the first in portugal with that induction...i never saw that in a 172 only in my 1.2 16v and a 1.4 16v
