KW vs. Bilstein vs. H&R

  Chocolate Bar™
i know the general concensus is for H&R's but i always like to look outside of the box. i want coilovers, no adjustability required - only height, and have a budget of circa £700.

really tempted by the KW's especially as they have camber correction which will save me another £40 or so.

so if you had £700 where would your money go. especially as my biggest concern is that KW's only lower the rear 25mm max which may not be enough as i wanted it around 35 ideally.

  M2 Competition
Aye, kw's wont look very low at all.

H&r's/ bilsteins for me (same thing apparently)

Come with 2' camber built in, would only need correction bolts if you want less than this?

Which kw's V1's or V2's?

V1's on that site are less than £600 delivered

V2's are £800ish delivered.

My mate gets his bm stuff from there and he swears by kw's

I was looking at the v1s as they're only for road use. Dont want to take it silly low so not that bothered about it looking slammed

for the v1s the price i've got is 585 delievered so a lot less than the other two

The drop that they list is TUV approved drop and there is a little bit more on the thread to allow a slighty lower drop. I have driven a couple of cars with the KW Gear on and the difference is mine blowing. The V2 gives you the most adjustability with reference to the Bump adjustment, giving you the option to stiffen the suspension or soften it up depending on your driving style.

PM Me and I can see if i can knock the price down for you.

If its just for road use, thought about fk's?

yeah i have but i had em on my 1.2, and thought they might be a bit 'firm' on the 172. however still have the option of FK's and using the change to get some pimp brakes/money towards seats.

Good question and an answer i would like know too as decided with a 182 instead of 197.

Oh and saw your car Middo heading towards milton way either early this week or last week.

  Chocolate Bar™
what car were you in? i assume a 182 then?

peperami - dont know how effectivethe adjustment is on the fks, i just thought for the same price i may as well go for a decent set up as standard. If i did go for fks i'd get the cheaper version, and the spunk the cash on something else lol

steve - thanks for the offer but unless you can knock fair wodge off the 585 delivered i've already got i think i'll stick to 2modified :)

Nope dont get the 182 for another couple of weeks, i was driving my mums rover 25 beast.

Car looked good, anyway sorry for hijacking.

That site show's 182 fitment, which is strange. Do kw do 182 coilovers?

stoddie? will have a search to see if he has any pics.

have to admit i'm toying towards KW, so will probably just order them and leave it at that :approve:

  R27 - 77/500

H and R's would get the money for me.
As for camber bolts there cheaper options there the Eisback ones from Demon Tweeks for £25 or so or if you only need 1mm use the nne RS bolts as there 1mm thinner (13mm vs 14 for the RS models) plus there easier to setup.

Ask Adam he has Fk's prsonaly if you've the money use it properly H and R's.

theres only 1 stoddie is there not? Would be interested to get a write up on the bilsteins mate, so if you could pm me or whatever would be great :)

edde :- i dunno, any reason why you would go for the h&rs over the kw's? as i know i can get a bigger discount on the kws than the h and rs

  172
Bilsteins all the way
They come with rear bumpstops and damper protection, H&R's don't

KW V2 are REBOUND adjustable but don't lower the back enough

  Chocolate Bar™
well thats the problem. due to plans to shove a load of speedhumps in my road i cant lower it too much. especially when you consider the humps just up the road i could barely get my old car over them lol

will wait for the views of a couple of people and then get my order placed next week :)

If you whant handaling and not much of a drop go for the bilstein or H&R's dont have to drop it totaly.

  Weeman sucks ****
I can't praise the H&R's enough, but it is biased I guess.

Personally I'd like a a bit more siffness but tbh, mine are fine. They go round the ring ok and on the road they're spot on.

Are KW's and Fk's TUV approved? H&R's are, I'd imagine Billies are too.

oh yes - theres only one stoddie!

have pm'd you middo

think im only half way down the coil at the back, so it could still go lower.

cant fault the kw v2's at all, never had any probs with them.
