lamba sensor!!!

hey all ,
recently had my m.o.t but failed on the lamba sensor reading, the reading has to be between , 0.97 and 1.03 . mine was 1.091 is this much over the limit and what can i do to pass the m.o.t. will i need a new lamba sensor or just fill it with a fuel additive and boot it up the by pass just before i take it back to the garage?

cheers guys , oh one more things , is the 1.6 8v lamba sensor the same as the 1.6 16v sensor ?? . cheers......

1.091 usually means that its got an air leak. what was the HC?

kaliff havent got an answer to your question but just wondring if you have my old car! Is it the 1.6 8v? and is it monaco blue?

either dodgy sensor or a slight leak in exhaust somewhere,

HC was 200, thats very very high. try spraying carb cleaner very lightly around all the seals on the inlet etc to see if there is an air leak. sounds like it.

Probably a good thing mate, it had a lot of problems towards the end of its life with me!
