These are my requirements:

£300 max (but maybe ONLY a few quid more...)

wireless surfing so i can make it work with my netgear router.

decent battery life.

i have ''thesloth'' (my self build PC if no one knows.) for gaming antics so it will only really be used for surfing etc and maybe simcity 4

---------------------------------------------

I don't know if i will be fed up with a single core laptop or whether i should get a dual core?

my old PC was a 1.4ghz single core and was ok.... but would i notice it a lot on a laptop over my current dual core rig?

anyone got any decent laptops to suggest as there seems to be such a varied amount of models out there. :)

I've got an old Sony Vaio laptop with a whopping 1.4ghz Ahtlon processor and 512mb of ram. I've stuck Vista Home premium on it (Technet subscriber it's obviously for testing purposes ;) ) and stuck a Netgear pcmcia wifi card in it.

Despite it's low specs it's perfect for browsing the net and hooked up to my main LCD in the lounge I can stream music and films across to it from my main pc.

Obviously I'm not suggesting you copy me but I hope it gives you an idea.

Edit - Found it - http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/spec...=voe_en_GB_cons&category=0&serie=PCG-FX&m=838

yeah i don't need an uber laptop, just a budget one... but when you look at them you can't help but look at better ones!

Hi Seb,

I just bought my cousin a HP 510 for £350

http://www.equanet.co.uk/catalogue/item/HPN0095

I work in IT and see so many different laptops but I'm so impressed with it, absolutely fantastic piece of kit, the screen is similar to the Vaio X-Black quality

£50 more but You wouldn't be disappointed.

You could go for the cheaper Celeron M Model if you wanted to spend a bit less.

Hope this helps

Andy
