Leaking shocks

Car  Clio 182
How obvious is it to tell if my shocks are leaking. Can I just get under and have a look or will i have to jack the car up and take off the wheel. And what exactly should I be looking out for.

It's just that i'm suffering a few of the symptoms of leaking shocks (according to others on this site) and I wanted to check it out myself rather than take it to a garage. Cheers.

Easier if you jack it up, but you can manage without. It'll just look like damp patches where the fluid has soaked into the grime attached the the shock.

Front or back? Back ones take about 10mins to do yourself, fronts are a bit more complicated but perfectly doable.

My passenger side shock deffinatley squelches, and my handling is quite unsteady. Are the koni srt springs/dampers any good as a replacement?

Open boot and push down, the car should come back up in a slow controled state and shouldn't bounce more than 2 times.

What do you mean by skip out. When I take corners at speed, if i hit a bump the car will get very twitchy.

The shocks are that poor if you think they've broke they probably have.

where is best to get new shocks from? can you get uprated ones? if so which to go for?

just i am looking at getting sportlines in the near future and once my shocks go i wouldn't mind replacing them with better ones if that is possible?

sorry...novice when it comes to this stuff!
