LG head unit help

hi

right here we go, a friend with a clio campus (56 plate) bought an lg headunit- mp3-bluetooth jobbie but here came a problem- after it was fitted the car was started up and the power steering light came on and the engine management light was on also the power steering went stiff

the standard headunit was then refitted and the pwr steering light worked as usual with the power steering - the engine management light was still on so renault breakdown was called and the aa bloke found the fault on the diagnostic machine (speed sensor) so it was replaced by renault.

anyone heard of this before as he is now resiliant to fit another headunit

any help gratefully recieved

its cos the lg's have the antenna and remote leads connected straight to the block so will send a signal to whatever is there, make sure he cuts those 2 wires on the lg loom so they dont send a signal, problem solved

cheers matey
so do you only get this problem with the LG headunits cos ive never had this problem with the alpine ???? just seems wierd for it to afect the speed sensor and the steering????

lg units and not particularly good brands,ie ripspeed, etc as they have both leads into the block, other companies like pioneer, alpine etc always put these wires on bullet leads so that they wont cause these problems, cheap companies dont care, they just want to produce cheap radios and not do correct research

as for the speed sensor one of the wires on the power block on the renault loom is for cruise control, the remote lead is sending a signal saying that this is in use (take it your mate doesnt have this) thus causing the issue
