(clio 51 plate 1.2 16v)
just a quick question. I ve got a light on my dash thats permantley on, its in the middle looks like a square box with a squiggle in it and a dielsel pre-heater symbol just below, wot is it ????:S
ithe bk window seems to be wrkin fine, it comes on for a day then goes off, i thought at 1st it was engine management? so i stuck some redex in to clean fuel - light went off, ive noticed on my trip computer im getting 29.9 mpg it usually around 44mpg
you need to upload the pics press the paperclip button in 'Advanced' and do it that way mate. The light is simply referred to as 'An electrical system fault' and it could honestly be anything. Have you done the simple diagnostics test?
Theres a simple diagnostics built into the Mk2 Clio's
To access this, with the igition off press and keep hold of the button at the end of the stalk and turn the ignition on. ALl the dashboard warning lights will come on and the speedo and rev counter will go through a predefined sequene.
When your doing this though (you can let go of the button at the end of the stalk) ever time you press the stalk button the digital readout will show information (listed belew) each time you press the button some more information will show.
All the lights lit (shows if you have a failed LED).
The amount of fuel left in the tank in liters.
Fuel flow (the engine has to be running. This is in liters per hour
Stored faults
t mean an injection fault has been detected for a minimum of 4 seconds
J means a fault has been noted on the fuel gauge. It must have disconnected for longer than 100 seconds. The resistance from the fuel tank sensor needs to be between 5 and 350 Ohms.
d means an injection signal fault has been detected
h means an oil level sensor fault has been detected. Resistance from the sensor should be between 6 and 20 Ohms. Any reading over 20Ohms is an open cicuit anything under 3 is a short circuit.
If no faults are logged then dashes will show fixed dashes.
Press the reset button to clear the logged faults. Other faults arn't shown on the display.
To stop the diagnostic moder simply turn the engine off or move the key to the off position
sorry! actually there was a 'h _ _ _ ' shown on the display , above it says its oil level senor fault. Do i need to get this fixed? is this just for the trip computer oil level display
it could be the oil level digital display on the dash or it could be the low engine oil warning light on the instrument panel so I'd get it checked out personally.
be the coil pack that needs replacing OR at the back of the engine where the ecu plugs in to theloom there is a metal 'cage' this has been known to come loose and rub through some of the wires , when i had my 1.2 16v it had both of these faults
that light came on in myn....limp mode GRIM! lol
took it to a dealer an they sed my throtle bodies were full of shyt :S they did what ever, not to sure, an all was lerfin, not bin on since
Daz, that your car in the pic? if so, its running a bit hot isnt it?.. Ive NEVER seen mine go above half.. in fact its always slap bank on half way after 10 or so mins and nevr moves... kinda gets to the point where i think its bust! haha.. but im sure its not
