Light scratch

  Clio MK 4
Washed my car saturday and come sunday morning I noticed I had the faintest of hair line mark on my door. So faint i thought it was probably some idiot with a bag or something. Any way I used SRP then some EGP and it has made it even fainter but still kind of there.

Now the worst thing was as i checked around the car i noticed i had a hairline scratch on my bonnet! Again not deep but a bit more noticeable than the door one and because it was on my bonnet i cant see it being accidentla and more purposely  I tried SRP and it didnt really help. Is there anything i can do excpet respray the bonnet?

I park on a dead end street and always worry about my car as my last car got keyed once and broken into 3 times in 5 weeks. And there is a lad who has been done for number of things ie arsen, robbery etc and his mates go down to his house sometimes . worries me :dapprove:

nothing you can do to prevent it mate, people are like that.

Tried machine polishing it ?

if it is hairline and only into the laquer you might be able to scratch x it out ?

Where do i get scratch x? Halfords? Is it a universal thing or do you need to get your colour?

Halfords, Universal and i think £8.99.

A lot of hand polishing though.

not of you concentrate on the scratch and nothing else, i removed a scratch on my caravan caused by a tree scrape and it took me about 40 mins to remove it from the plastic windows and the entire side of the caravan. if its deep though, you wont suceed much.

Can this go wrong and make it look worse?

No, get a foam applicator pad and scratch x and work the scratch x into the paintwork using the pad, you need to really rub it in and work the polish untill its gone "greasy" though. The abrasives in the paint will break down. heres an example of what scratch X can and cant remove which i did myself by hand:

Notice the swirls gone, but the deeper ones still there.

I MUST stress that when using it by hand its only for very light swirling or scratches, like the pics and like the very minor scuff/scratch i had on the caravan. if its deep like the ones in the last picture then youll get no where.
