stripping is the way forward, mine is half done, all the rear is out but I cannot bring myself to do the front carpet as the road noise would drive me mad for everyday use :(

  172 Race Car
Mine was/is 879kgs with 1 gallon of fuel in the tank.

Thats with all standard body panels.

can get them a little lighter but not much without swapping to fibreglass panels etc

Fuel rail cover binned? Man you must be desperate to save weight!

Redtop racing batteries are more than 4.2kg aswell, unless you have a really small one????

I went for the 25, purely for extra crank power etc.

Fuel rail guard is there for a reason though ;)

well the 20 did die on me last week but had been sitting in the 106 gti for a while .

True but it gets in the way and the weight of it is a lot :D

1059kg's for a Phase 1 is standard kerb weight.

Should you be able to get it down to 850kg's @ standard power itll be around 205bhp per ton with a 0-60 of 5.6 ........

hmmm im so tempted to strip my ph1 now, with my mods (full decat system, matched inlets, pipercross panel filter, remap) what sort of power would that be per tonne if its around 850kg??

Mine is down to about 920kgs now but i've still got quite a bit of weight left in there to remove.

possible areas for saving in mine are

dash out
lose the aircon
remove the soundeadening that is on the roof
remove window mechs and rear wiper motor

thats all i could do now with out buying fibre glass panels, polycarb windows, alloy or carbon bonnet, lightweight battery.
