Lights on full when in off position

Hi

To be as concise as I can:

Engine off / Lights in off position - No lights <-- Perfect
Engine on / Lights in off position - Lights on <-- Wrong
Engine on / Lights in side light position - Side lights on <-- Perfect
Engine on / Lights in on position - Lights on <-- Perfect

How easily can I fix this? I'm a total novice (as you may have realised by my numerous posts ) But I don't want to have to send it to the garage for this

Are you sure it's not just the automatic lights?

If you don't like them coming on by themselves, turn the ignition on (not the engine) and turn the light stalk around back and forward twice until you hear a beep, then you'll have turned auto lights off. Repeat to reverse the change

I'm blaming the Renault garage for that one aswell - they never told me

If they only come on automatically when it's dark they're working fine.
If they're coming on automatically in broad daylight, THEN you have a fault. It'd most probably be something obscuring the sensor at the top of the windscreen (behind the rear view mirror)/
