Lightweight battery?

Should work ok. Just make sure you get the correct size in amps.

What are you going to do with the space that is not filled up? will you need to make a new mounting for it?

Making a mount is not gonna be a problem. I wanna put a 45 degree silicone bend on my BMC, less bends = better air flow, plus am interested in the reduction in weight.
 
Got one in the rally car and thats fine. Runs some huge spots well so should be fine in a cup. Would have to make up a mount and adapt the terminal connections but other than that i'd go for it. All it's really got to do is crank the engine over before the alternator takes over.
