Liquid Yellow Matched Inlets, Throttle Body etc..

So I enquired about these to a guy I found on the Internet. Wanted the whole works (Ported, Matched & Gasflowed inlets, Fuel rail guard & Enlarged Throttle Body) all painted in my choice of "Any colour"

Whilst I recently bought my first 182 in BG

Project thread here: http://www.cliosport.net/threads/joes-bg182-money-pit.776087/

I want subtle yellow dotted here and there to go with the black, so I gave the poor guy the dreaded J37 paint code (Liquid Yellow)

Needless to say I think the job he's done at both painting and porting is top job. On his website it says he supply's K-Tec with their matches inlets so..

Anyway here's the photos he sent me upon completion.

And I received them today so here's how they finally look!

I'm unsure whether to black out the RS logo on the manifold. I'll have a black engine cover, black fuel rail and obviously black car so I think it'll work out.. Thoughts?

Anyway;

thoughts ?

Looks great, glad you didnt get the renaultsport letters painted black as it is never neat enough.

How much was it mate

I paid £300 for the lot. Sounds expensive but take into account how much would it be to shot blast and paint all of that at a normal spray shop? £170-£250?? On top of that it's J37 paint code which is more £££ then on top of that to get it all professionally ported matched and englarged £££££

Sounds Ok to be honest. Like you said a lot of work goes in to it. Does that price include sending him your existing inlets and stuff .

agh yyou can recoup some money and ebay your old ones, did that with mine, you should have the lower rs stamped inlet easy 40 quid there

When are you installing it, any chance of getting some pics up of that later.

scrap yard throttle body...quality!! doesn't look like he's used primer and wtf is going on with the throttle body? big finger print in it and looks like it's had a load of sand thrown over it?

sprayed on a board in his garage so the paint ain't seen an oven. i wouldn't lean on the upper inlet when the engine is warm.

big ding on the face of the upper inlet looks as though it's been dropped.

Opinions are opinions but this isn't a smooth bonnet or a car body respray. It's an engine component that 97% of the time only I see.

As I read on here "having a nice engine bay is like having fancy underwear. Only you know you're wearing it"

This isn't sprayed for show winning quality, it's not a V6 or a classic car where I'd treat it like glass and always take it to shows. i like it, I think it's pretty damn good and what I eanted so what you're saying seems pretty harsh, almost borderline troll there's that much hate against it. But I did ask for thoughts so fair enough

wasn't trolling, just stating facts from what i could see on the pictures. it just annoys me when people charge top whack for a job that doesn't qualify for top whack prices.

to give you an idea i'd charge £30 at the most to blast the bits and off the top of my head could get them painted for £30-£60 dependent on coulour, would be in 2k and oven baked.

that was me being normal, should see me when i rip into things, could make the incredible hulk cry at twenty paces:wink:

i'm not a painter, tried it but can't paint for s**t to say the least!! got a few mates who paint and they've all said i should be good at it, i know all the theory of it and got an eye for it but just can't do it to save my life!!

its a lot of money, but if your happy then thats all that matters, does an enlarged throttle body do anything?,and sell your old inlets on here

It'll be a while til I've fitted them but I'll update the thread once I have. Seems expensive but then take into account k tec sell only the bottom ported inlet for £175. No paint. Just ported. But then again ktec can be expensive.

Got some before pics too:

Top job to me!

Just enquired and he does do an exchange basis as he always needs the stock obviously (: so I'll be sending back the ones already on mine. Unless the lower inlet is RS stamped then I'll sell that separately.

Anyway I'd highly recommend him. Couldn't be happier with it all.

Looks good but also very over priced.

I got all my inlets plus all mounts, subframe, wishbones, arb and subframe supports for less than that sandblasted and powder coated.

Good point but take into consideration these aren't "my" parts.

All of that are his stock, if I supplied all of my own parts the price would be considerably cheaper. Plus like I've mentioned he does want to buy back my parts so it'll be less than the final price (:

Also don't forget it's not just painted. It's all matched gasflowed and enlarged all top quality. I've seen other "matched" inlets where it looks like they've been assaulted with a hammer and chisel.

Anyone got any idea what sort of power gains this will win you (mine is a 172 with cams, K-tec exhaust & banana exhaust manifold, and possibly remapped)? From what i know mine puts down 193 hp at the moment..
Don't know whether it might be ported already, or whether it's an RS inlet or not..
So how do the following compare power wise (with my setup in mind)?
- Standard PH1 inlet
- RS lower inlet
- What you've got
- ITB's
