little help guys with my 172!!



hi everyone it is now time to do some serious work on my little baby!! (well actualy my fiancee is paying as a gift he he) i am wanting to get a great overall performance package for the car that is proven for good gains. i have spoke to nick at hillpower a couple of months back and he recommends certain things but what is the feeling of everyone on the forum.

brakes:- which discs and pads are good without being silly priced i have heard things about mintex discs and pads

suspension:- i want coilovers and strut braces what do you recommend

manifold:- is this a good mod getting it matched or whatever its called

exhaust and decat: which is the best exhaust to get for power gains i was thinking about a janspeed full stainless system with janspeed sports cats (has anyone got any pics of a janspped system on their clio dont know what tailpipe design they have) i also need a decat that does not turn the management light on because it would bug me!!!

filter:- dont know really what to do here i really want an itg maxogen but are they proven for gains as i had a viper years ago and it made no difference i thought to my cup so dont know if i would have one again but everyone think very highly of them i know people have said panel filter but with the mods above is an induction kit overall the better chose!!

chip: group n ecu has been recommended by nick does this change the rev limiter and make a difference should this be done as a last stage process

what bhp would i be looking at if i went for the above best of!!

was thinking of uprating the spark plugs and leads as well plus also my cambelt is due later on this year would getting this done after the above mods make them not work properly etc etc

wow - i was happy with my 172 and still am when i got it without the need to mod, you have too much ££££ haha

I think standard sparkplugs are sposed to be the best, they cost enough i know that !!!
 
DS2500 pads and normla disks fancy ones are more trouble. Brebo are good as they have th wear markers but use decient fluid when yuo bleed the brakes and braided brake lines will help.

Coilover well either H and R ae very good or Leda but H and R are £700 or so and Leda are £900.

As for stopping the lambeda light just unplug the sensor sensor and take the wires up and the light won't come on. As for exhaust depends what you want the orbsounds one is very good from what I've heard but noisy.

Viper with a cold air filter is the best filter you can buy for gains BenR did tests a few years ago. A cold air filter and pane replacment are good value for money though.

Manifold matching yep its great value for money.

Spartk plugs are superb manay tunned cars use them and at £20 each they should be good.

If your getting the cambelt done get some cams as well as this will reduce the cam instalation costs as you need to remove the belt anyway. There about £600~700 I think though.

Leads are fine no point in chnaging unless there worn.

There a few chipping choices personal;ly I'd not let it rev above 7.5k the engine will break if you run up at 8k according to renault sport so a safe margin should be 7.5k

cheers mate anyone else got any comments really stuck on which induction kit to get i have heard the powertec stainless steel induction kit sounds fooooking the nuts if this was combined with a heat sheild and silicone house and a good air feed would this be satisfactory as an induction kit???????? i have heard that it looks and performs well according to dave at ktec racing
