Little help on machine polishers :)

Willy

Hi :)

My mate has given me this; http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_188980_langId_-1_categoryId_165640 dont laugh!

I know its far far far from a good machine polisher lmao and its only 12v :p but he let me loose with it on his car (only with super resin polisher) and I was pleased to find the results were much better than I ever do by hand and some light scratches were gone. Anyway, he packed it up and said I could have it :) as he now has a decent one

Anywho, Is it worth using this with some decent polish and see what the results are like? If so, what polish should I get? I have tons of swirls and scratches ;)

Thanks peeps

Not worth it chap, you won't get the speed or pressure required. Plus the pads will not be worth their salt for cutting properly to remove marks.

Fine for SRP (ish!) or removing wax/sealents/polish residue, but not a lot else chap!

Cheers JD, thought I would ask :)

Will keep this for applying polish and other things.

lols, this polisher seems to have come up a million times in the last few days.

Absolute pants, but hey its free

The motor in them is not particularly powerful or torquey, so if it gets bogged down (too much pressure/friction) it will just burn out.

What speed on a rotary do you need?
As some on ebay seem well cheap for £40 for a complete set!

Rotary you won't really go over 2000RPM, normally staying at 1500 or so, depending on the paint.

The pads on the eBay kits, and particularly the backing plates, are shite, so I'd avoid personally.
