Locking the boot without battery power?

My car's going to be sitting on my drive for a few months due to a broken gearbox.

I've disconnected the battery so it doesn't go flat, but obviously I can't lock the boot.

The only thing of value in the car is the HU, which I might end up sticking in whatever
shed I buy in the mean time, but I still don't like the idea of any nobend being able
to get in to the car from the boot.

I tried locking it with the keyfob, but it kept making the constant beep noise
even though i'd disconnecting the battery.

Is there any way of locking the boot without the key fob?

Could always pop the trim off the inside of the boot and disconnect the little rod on the solenoid? You'll just have to open it from the inside when you reconnect your battery.

I did that before and the door open 'beeeeeeeep' went off even though the battery was disconnected,
I just did it again and i've managed to lock it all then disconnect the negative terminal, the 'beeeeeeeep' was sounding,
I shut the bonnet and it shut up.

So I though job done, I unlocked the drivers door to get something out the car and the alarm went off :S
it's obviously still getting power from the positive terminal?

Will having the possitive terminal still connected decharged the battery if the alarm's still working,
enev though the negative terminal's been taken off?

Should I take the postive off aswell?

Remove the battery entirely, but wait a LONG time before you expect the alarm to be dead. My siren thing went off for about 30 minutes after unplugging the battery

  Now Sold :-(
1. Reconnect the battery. (leave bonnet open)
2. Open passenger door and lock the car using the button on the dash. (drivers door and boot closed)
3. Close the passenger door and lock it with the key.
4. Disconnect the battery and close the bonnet.

Or have I missed something.......

I haven't got an extention long enough in my socket set to reach the battery clamp, if I just disconnect the positve terminal aswell will that be good enough, or should I just gets an extention from Halfords and whip it out anyway?
