Long drives in your RS Clio

  Peddled device
I've done Manchester to London and Manchester to Edinburgh and l find my 182 Cup pretty good for a long drive. The Edinburgh trip was with a freind and she was quite impressed.

Anyone else impressed?

I've done some literally epic journeys in my 182Cup. They're not too bad TBH but I'm finding it more and more annoying as we both get older.

I did Bristol to Amsterdam for NYE on coilovers and in bucket seats LOL!

Was absolutely fine apart from the bumpy European roads.

I have to be in the right mood for a long journey in the clio, the hard suspension and tyres get a bit uncomfortable after a while on the motorways, and the rattles do my head in. Along with the bad driving position which hurts my back, being 6"5.

The freelander that I drive for work is brilliant though, quiet, comfy and diesel.

dave88 i remember seeing your clio for sale. i was so tempted by it. looks good now though;)

Never really found the 172 brilliant for long journeys tbh, used to be quite tiring I thought wasn't bad just wasn't brilliant. The 225 is far better just for the fact that its a lot quieter at 70 and its got an armrest!

Seriously? Twas a long time ago now, came from Rother valley salvage

Still finding bits in it, like the other day when I found the blokes debit card who crashed it.

I've put 6K on my 172 Cup since early December. Long drives are more common than short ones for me!

Did Cambridge to NEC and back on Thurs, Fri and Sat!

Cheers

Went to Oxford from Chester and back Friday/Saturday, all in one tank too!

Also done Chester to Newquay before, though my mate who sat in the back for that one says he is glad I did my exhaust after that trip!!

Did a couple of long-ish drives in the Clio to Alton Towers and Cornwall, always thought it was fine.

Prefer the Meg though because of the 6th gear which I always thought the 182 needed.

Did Southampton to Birmingham a few weeks ago, (in 2hrs!), was fine. But my seats are far comfier than the standard ones.

compared to the BMW it sucks c**k

The 6th Gear in the 197 still dont lower the revs at cruising speed in the slightest

I find mine fine for long journeys, even compared to German executives. Then again i am young and virile!

i used to love mine on a / b road trips through wales etc. motorways were a nightmare at 70-80mph... much better at 60 mph noise wise.

Pah, you werent trying! ;)

I think it just depends what you're used to. Ive done Portsmouth to Manchester and back in a day, that was fun!

Jesus. I'm six zero and I struggle with the driving position. God knows how you manage TBH :dead:

i find mine ok on long journeys, go to cornwall fairly regularly and the only thing that annoys me is the lack of a sixth gear for cruising. but for a 'hot hatch' its not bad at all.

70miles to nottingham the other week, ears were bleeding and i had a headache. But it was pretty comfy :)

Lol i do a 1000 miles a week in a transit up and down national speed limit dual carriageway and motorway from Stoke to Sheffield...the Clio seems like the pinnacle of refinement compared to a bloody van. Engine screaming its head of at 70, no poke in pretty much any gear at any speed, shite brakes, rolly polly suspension if i go through the lanes.

Eugh...and it all begings again tommorow. If it wasnt for the fact i work in some complete holes on the glorious council estates of Sheffield id be tempted take the Clio one day just to see how much more refreshed i am when i get there.

Did 3 up to the nurburgring in a day, was alright, cruised at nearly 100 all the way to!

If we're doing a lot of m'way miles I'd prefer to take the gf's Honda jazz. Nice and comfy, and feels grown up. But if we're off to Wales or somewhere with a lot of hills and A roads I'll really annoy her by insisting we go in my clio. Slow cars can do my nut in!

I have done Harrogate to Weston Super Mare before, im 5ft 11inches tall and dont think much more than an hour in the drivers seat's comfortable in my ph1.

apart from the oban run (hi chris x) the longest drive i had was when i picked it up from cumbria. but because it was my first rs experience i LOVED it to say the least:approve:
