ive had the metal box removed due to some misfire problems in the past and had the coil pack changed, help with this would be gladly appreciated even though it was really silly but thats not the matter, i really need to fix it... :(

christopher can you give me a list to how to remove the plastic inlet plenum please?

If you can get hold of a set of Torx wrenches, just remove all the ones you can see around the plenum. I think there's around ten in total.

If the metal security box is removed, that's the hard part done.

wow.... just wow. When you put the filter back on, please also perform an oil change/service at least. Its astonishing its lasted this long really.

This maybe an expensive lesson to learn.

You probably lucky it (is/maybe) the cloth thats caused it, as over time the lack of a filter is only going to make the car run worse as with all the dust etc getting in.

IMO nothing other than a bigger engine will make a 1.2 go noticeable quicker. Better off saving your money untill you get a new car.

i hope its not going to be garage jobby.. :( i dont have the money... what am guessing is that the peice of the cloth has got caught on the butterfly thus why the cars constantly revving yet theres no response when i press the pedal... well am hoping thats what it is anyway..

tbh am not fussed about this 1.2 engine. once all the bodywork/mods are done its making way for something, sport-y ;)

Symtoms would be different if it was the coils... normally.

If it's not the cloth (LOL) it'll be FBW throttle releted.

if the cloths not over the inlet anymore....where else is it going to be? if its come off when driving, with it in that position, the only place it could possibly go is down that hole....specially with the amount of induction force there is when the car is accellerating/moving

yeah i know f0xy,... i was dreading of the idea that it went down the hole,,... but that would seem the most logical place it would have gone!! i just hope i can find it... the cars constantly revving so am just hoping the cloths got caught onto the butterfly.. where ever the hell it is..

and nah i wasnt joking... i was quite and still really serious!! lol

i was on about instead of giving your money to ktec.......you can insure a converted 1.2 instead of a 172? not much difference lol

Sorry, couldn't resist.

The picture looking down your inlet seeing this jamming the throttle would be better...

Does anyone know if a microfibre mitt would be good to sellotape over my air intake?

Am also thinking about replacing my cambelt with some cheestrings

The fact your car still revs is a very good sign, the fact the engine turns over is even better. It means the cloth has not tangled itself on any major components that will cause irreputable damage. Now get the spanners out the camera ready and give us a lil giggle.

I have visions of a throttle butterfly, valve or piston crown going mom mom mom mom mom on that rag. Really some people should stick to skateboards, lol
