Looks: 172 or 182

172 cup is the nicest looking....End of.

182 looks crap, Grey headlights, silly exhausts, grey seatbelts, seats arn't as nice, trim is duller. Colours arn't as nice...

I love the Sppedlines and The Front Splitter and Rear spoiler :) :)

Don't know if you'd notice wider track etc etc by eye..

Maybe i'm wrong, i've never had a 172FF and a Cup side by side to compare :dapprove:

I'm surprised at some peoples opinions on the 182 exhausts - i imagined they would be quite popular, although I do prefer the smooth back bumper of the 172.

I wasn't a great fan of my 172 FF wheels, I prefer anthracite turinis, but I know what i'd rather clean!

I much prefer the normal Phase 2 172 wheels, lack of exhausts (wish they had kept this on the 182) on it and the darker finish headlamps, BUT- Dislike the fake Carbon look on the Dash Inserts and Gear Knob though so swings and roundabouts.

Phase 1 172s I just find ph-ugly at the front end and the dash is horrible - like the wheels though.

Hated the standard 182 wheels when I ordered the car and was going to change them but they have grown on me.

Silver 182 seat belts are s**te too.

Black Gold is also nicer than Pearl Black.

I think that sums up my opinon on the looks of the 172/182

the best looking, best color made, and fastest 2.0 clio to 60 is

172 CUP PIMP PIMP

SCARY CAR

no abs
no esp (for pussys esp lol)
modial blue is sexy :)
no air con :( but live in england so not bothered lol

Will any 172Cup owner ever realise that the 172Cup and 182 are near identical pace? It's only the full fat 172 chav charriots that are slightly slower (on paper) and even then there's not likely to much difference on the road other than perhaps two lengths to 100mph.

The air-con vs. UK climate argument always makes me smile too. Persnally I use mine 24/7/365 because it also stops the inside misting up ;)

well i love the 172 cups,i used to hate the look of the ph1s but they really have grown on me,i used to wanna throw up they were that ugley lol,but inall honesty i really like mine,and iv fallen for the front end,the bumpers are ace

ph2 172s are ok (no offence guys but not for me),love the rear end of the 182s,exhausts look brilliant

I love my exhausts, i think they make the clio sport stand out from the bunch, to the untrained eye a 172 ph2 looks just like any other clio.
 
personally i prefer the 172, but that mainly because when I had a 182 a mate commented on the twin exhuast asking:

'Do they both work, or is it just for show? Looks like a wheelbarrow to me'

Oh dear, although i could see his point.
 
i would say l liquid 182 is the best of the lot IMO.

bubbles car was the fittest on here but now she has lost the cf bonnet im not too sure anymore.

172 ph2 wheels were ruined by Renault sticking them on Dynamiques in smaller form. Before that happened though....they looked stunning, especially on a lowered car and do still really suit the clios shape. I have a 172 in Iceberg silver, but would have to say the 172 cup looks the least hairdressery lol.

LOVE the 182, I think it looks better by far.

They come in nicer colours - esp racing blue and liquid yellow. I prefer the twin exhausts and the silver seatbelts and it looks miles better with the cup spoiler and splitter.

I also MUCH prefer the 182 alloys. 172 rims look too similar to the ones you can get on other models, but as far as I know you only get the anthracite 8-spoke alloys on 182s. They look the nuts..and are also far more difficult to kerb!

im surprised at how many people dont like the 182 exhausts!

Personally i think they look great, makes it individual and sets it apart from the other clios. Cant wait till i can a 182 at some point!!

But the spoiler and splitter were pinched out of the Cups parts bin :rasp:

I actually like the 182 exhausts too, make the rear end more purposeful witha nice aftermarket system and drop. :)

I bought my Cup mainly because of the colour [racing blue] as for the exhaust tail pipes, they remind me of twin machine guns. In my fevered imagination I shoot down slower cars that I have just overtaken.

to me the 172 FF just looks like a normal Clio until you get close.

At least the 182 looks a bit more sportier with the twin exhaust, spoiler and bigger wheels. I think the colour range is better on the 182 as well.

mmmm for the perfect 1*2 i'd have to take bits from all the range, but for me the Cup colour does it.

The cup is the one for me also...

The only thing i hate is the fact theres no exhaust on show.

I much prefer the 182 exhaust i think that looks unreal proper buzzin..

For me 182 allday, love the wheels and the backend looks less plain with the twin exhaust.......As Deb said best colours came in the 182 too. 172 has Flame which is nice but 182 has Liquid/Inferno/BlackGold/Racing/Petrol!!!

The only 172 id entertain is the Cup and even then i would have to import new seats at more expense.

From the front there is no difference on any of the models (bar a 1.5cm front splitter on !some! cups).

Fron the side there is no difference (bar perhaps some cup badges, different - not bigger - wheels, and maybe the slight flare of the rear spoiler).

From the back the stock 182 has the better exhaust and some prefer the spoiler, although the trophy/v6 one is my fav.

Yes the latter 182 range had some extended paint options but that progress.

the trophy is a stunner just cus of the colour, but for me itll always be about the mondial blue.

never been able to make my mind up on the twin exhaust.

Take it from me, i have owned the 172 FF, 172 CUP and a 182 cup, they are all very different and I liked each one for different reasons.

I liked the 172 FF because it was stealthy and kitted out with toys

I liked the cup for its color, its alloys and raw power, but cud not live with the poverty spec or lack of safety.

But now I have 182 CUP it combines the best of both worlds so its a win win!

172 cup is the prettiest :cool:

renault decided to use a 15" version of the 172 wheels after they had been used on the 172 so surely its trying ot make the dynamique look like a 172 not the other way round!

172 Cups are easily the best looking, from the factory.

But i prefer the 182 interior and exhausts, so i combined a bit of both.

The ultimate lookswise IMO is;

Racing blue, Liquid Yellow or Black cup packed 182, with aftermarket exhaust, lowered on coilovers and trophy turinis.

I personally don't like Turinis so that is why I didn't go for a 172 Cup at the time, plus I knew the 182 was coming soon. The rear spoiler I like as I think the V6 one on the Trophy is a tad too big. Couldn't care less about the exhausts but I think the splitter at the front does make a difference. When I took it off to repair it, it didn't look right. Strange but true!
