Loosing coolant - fast!

Hi

I'm loosing coolant fast.
It leaks a whole header tank in about 20 miles!

I think I've found the leak, it looks like it's coming from the water pump. My friend says it's a seal on the waterpump and you can see dried/burnt coolant on the gearbox.

Am I going to need a new pump?
I know I will need a new cambelt if I need a new pump - anybody know how much this is roughly to fix?

Thanks
Matt

what car do you have? if its a 172/182 you will only need a new aux belt not a cam belt id probably get a new pump

waterpump is on the other side of the engine to where the gearbox is.. drivers side >waterpump/stroke rad or bottom hose...

passenger side >thermostat housing, top hose and others around it or stuffed rad

172/182 or 1.2 etc?????

Sorry, my mistake I did actually mean the thermostat housing. That's where it's leaking from.
So the thermostat housing is not on the cambelt?

It's a Clio MK2 PH2 1.2 16v

It's a common place for them to leak as the plastic fails allowing the seal to pop out... It's a pretty high pressure area to.

New stat and all will be well... Buy a genuine Renault item though as the cheap ones don't last.
