Loss of power under heavy acceleration

Driving home tonight I noticed a new problem with my ph1, under heavy acceleration the car seems to lose power and hesitate for a few seconds then will suddenly kick in

Any ideas much appreciated!

Possibly pre cat lambda sensor is faulty.
