Lost power for split second

Hi all

Dropping the misses home tonight and as i was driving down a straight road, 20mph in third, i lost all acceleration for about 2 seconds.

wouldnt rev, just slowed down with no response when i pressed the accelerator

hasn't happened since (only been about 10 mins driving ) but when i got back it was idling just below 500 and theres a very faint tapping sound coming from somewhere at random intervals

Had my coilpack, leads & plugs changed about a month ago


Had a mooch round my engine and noticed a build up of what looks like oil here:


Not sure if thats normal, thought id include it just incase

Anyone have this problem before? thought id stick it on here incase it was an easy fix, before it gets worse/leads to a bigger problem. Im taking it on holiday in afew weeks so i want to make sure its ok before i breakdown up north

Any input would be appreciated

Did it again to me today, again in 3rd, feels like its trying to go but wont until you take your foot off and back on again :S

Sorry to bump this guys but it happened again just, had to pull over because it was really bad

Tried to pull away in 1st in my street and it felt like it was trying to rev, but couldnt. its like i hit the rev limiter at about 1200rpm :s

Could it be needing a new throttle body? Has anyone else had problems like this?

Also when its idling it seems like its shaking the car alot more?

Sorted

Front disks & pads were shot and were sticking after you took your foot off the brake! replaced, feels alot better now

low and behold, the problem is back and has made it undriveable

has an extremely rough idle (looks around 300rpm, maybe less) and feels like its on the edge of stalling when idle. throttle has become increasingly unresponsive (took me 5 minutes to reverse off my drive) and is starting to backfire

Taking it to the local garage tomorrow (within pushing distance from my house ) but has anyone got a rough idea or guess?
