Lost the Stereo!

F*ck, playing snooker this evening only to come out to my car without the stereo. Some T*****s nicked my stereo! The lock barrel is knackered as well.

The annoying thing is i have a frigging alarm, but there obviously was no one around to hear it. But atleast they only took the stereo i spose, they left my infinity components and the rest of the car!

Sorry to hear that. The lock barrels are a weak point on the Mk1 Clio - theyre only held in place by a little metal wedge clip and you dont even need to get the screwdriver out to overcome the barrel. Come to think of it, the coathanger or door bend also work really well too - so you dont even need to damage the door to get in.

I had my amp and sub nicked from my drive and no damage to the locks or the door - HOW!!!!!!

Since then its had an alarm/imobiliser fitted

I think its just a good opportunity for delocking, dehandling pasenger door and having metal plates welded in the doors to stop them being bent back!

Either by sliding their fingers between the door frame and chassis and bending the door back enough to slide in something to grab the lock top, or by sliding a coathanger/similar down the side of the door to get at the door rod. Theres no excuse for damaging a Mk1 Clio door to open it! The best tool is a metal ruler with a slight lip bent in at the end, so that you can slide it down the side of the window and grab the door rod. Same with loads and loads of cars.

Ironically, if you want to stop someone doing this its best to leave the windows partially open as the glass will obscure the door rod - but then they could just grab the lock top!

If someone wants to get into a car, then they always will!
