loud engine?? valver...

my valver engine is pretty loud im not sure if this is just because i am not use to it (coming from a 1.2) but im sure it seems overly loud sometimes even sounds like a diesel, anyone have any ideas as to what this is? and how i can check?

Does it have an induction kit?

They do have a great induction roar (even standard) - definetly more than my old 1.2..

no it doesnt, its not an induction sound, just a noisy sound, like diesel, ive been told it might be distributor cap? someone said it might be bottom end?

mate is it a nasty knocking/ticking noise? probably the oil if it is. I used to use castrol magnatec and the engine was stupid noisey! changed to Elf Competition ST 10w 40 and its sooooo much better!

rhino, might seem silly but is it possible to meet you and compare engine noise... i wont be happy with myself until i know nothings wrong.. it may be the oil as the previous owner wasnt very knowligable and had 2 diffrent oil bottles in the boot... if you could listen and tell me if its similar that would be great...

its the tappets init? Most valvers sound like diesels from cold. Try some different oil though, mobile 1 15/50 was good for mine.

change the oil and DONT use Castrol Magnatec, it makes them very noisy

ok, im going to order a distabutor cap and rotor+ht leads+ plugs and oil this week and do it all... hopefully that will help.... my dad thinks its just because it sa bigger more powerfull engine than the 1200..

Totally agree, I used it once in my valver & it made it sound like a tractor !! Valver engines don't like magnatec at all !!!

what oil should i use? im gonna change it next week, hopefully it will solve the noise listneing today im pretty sure its the tappets, gonna see rhino later so he can listen and see if it sounds like his did before oil change

any decent grade of 10w 40 part synthetic should be fine.
