Can you point me to one on the Isle of Wight?
Haha
Only a quick ferry ride to Rentech though.
Can you point me to one on the Isle of Wight?
Not one spec of fluid was cleaned, he basically phrased it saying it would clear itself lol
Spot on Chip, just spoke to citizens helpline and I definitely have a case, been given a reference for him. Will pop down there in couple hours and hopefully you guys can consult my options
I'd be trying to get him to foot the bill for a specialist on here to do it.. Even if he only pays 75% you're probably better off than letting him rebuild your engine.
Don't garages have insurance for this kind of thing anyway?
Yet again the good folk of CS come to the rescue. I think most people on here hate seeing others having bad luck with garages that dont know what they are doing.
Good luck with the car mate.
I'm really overwhelmed with the response I'm getting from you guys, its amazing thanks a lot.
So my options are to let him either re-build, drop another engine in or send it to a 3rd party garage billing him? And I have no say, influence or offer in what he choses to do? So I just shut up from now until he tells me how he wants to approach it?
Obviously if he doesn't want to do anything then I take him to court.
Cant I just pursue the court anyway getting an independent evaluation and order him to pay expenses for a 3rd party rebuild?
From his point of view and if I where him, because id already messed up one engine because I didnt know what I was doing there would be no way id want to do it again.
If I where him then id pay you off or pay one of the company's off of CS to sort it.
Also if its a real cheapy backstreet garage he might not actually have enough money to pay for a proper repair in the first place. could easily run to 1500 quid with a specialist.
I think Chip's response stating the 2nd hand engine could be knackered and more than your car is worth is very harsh
If you do that, take it to mike@MWM, he'll sort it properly.
182 with working engine =2K ish?
1500 quid at a specialist to fix a car that is worth a grand with a knackered engine = not viable as that is 2.5K
And yes I agree there are LOTS of good engines out there, but also there are lots of bad ones too, and how is this lad going to really know what he is getting?
Even hearing it running is no guarentee, especially if he doesnt really know what he is looking for.
Im just being realistic mate not harsh.
£1500???? how much do people charge for labour these days?
