Loved up new 172 Mk1 owner

Just a quick note to say thanks loads to everyone on this forum.

Ive spent the last two months looking for a new, cheapish car that would weld a smile to my face every time I climbed in, and after reading all your advice/tales/woes for a few weeks and test-driving loads of different things Ive ended up with a Mk1 Black 172 that I love. 50K on the clock, beautiful condition and only the trackings gone so far...

Special thanks to George16V for his invaluable help in looking at a few cars, even if the git wouldnt sell me his own 172 after I kept dribbling over it

(I used to be FHMChris on here btw)

Going to join up today (fancy one of them stickers) and as a complete mechanical moron please bear with me if I ask some spectacularly stupid questions in the next few months.

It was on here about three weeks ago at £6350 (think the login was called cuztardpie), but I ended up paying £5400 - he wasnt the hardest-nosed negotiator Ive ever met - I was chuffed with that.

Hes taken really good care of it.

Will need its final service / cam-belt change etc pretty soon, but apart from that its in really good condition, FRSH, fully standard, years MOT, couple of tiny scratches on the bodywork but easily sorted, new tyres, and, my favourite, makes a mad whistling sound for no apparent reason (timing belt?) at high revs.

How much you asking for yours? (hope the answer isnt going to make me cry)
