Low profile jack

After the demise of my Halfords jack, I'm after a new one. Ideally low profile and saw this one from SGS for £99 delivered.

Same minimum height as my old one at 85mm.

I don't want to spend a mental amount as it's just a hobby thing and hopefully don't need to use it much.

Any other recommendations?

Done a little comparing

SGS 2 ton is £99 and goes to 430mm height, low 85mm
SGS 2.5t is £125 and goes to 500mm height, low 80mm
Halfords 2t is £130, goes to 505mm height, low75mm
Halfords 3t is £160, goes to 505mm height, low75mm

I don't think I need 3t, it's only for my focus and possibly jacking a corner of the BM. I am tempted by the extra low and height of the Halfords 2t over the SGS though for £30 more, just didn't want to buy at Halfords after their w**k customer service yesterday, but then the advanced ranges give a 3 year warranty.

Just another perspective on this. Before that though, I will say its easy for me to spend your money for you.

A 3T option is marginally more expensive than the others. But it buys you more 'headroom' on lifting ability and, id argue, would make it safer.

Much as you'd never work under your car supported by only your jack, its that one piece of equipment you'd wish you'd spent the additional £30 on (if talking SGS) if your jack fails and your car is now on the deck, hopefully not with you under it.

I've got the halfords 3T low profile one, its a good bit of kit, ableit a bit hefty. If you know someone with a Halfords trade card, it'll bring the price down to £128. Or if you're up in the Lake District, you can borrow my trade card!

I purchased the advanced aluminium 2t earlier this year.

Good bit of kit for the money and is lightweight compared to the normal advanced one so ideal for trackdays and moving it about.

Does double your budget though unfortunately at the moment. I got it on an offer for closer to the £130 mark but doesn’t seem that is running any more.

SGS have an absolutely terrible reputation for their jacks. Wouldn’t trust one as far as I could throw it.

The Halfords 2t is £97.50 on trade card. If you want one and don’t have access to a card I could order it online for you if you want.

That would be awesome if you didn't mind. I was about to schlep up to Wigan tonight to buy one, but happy enough to wait for postage.

Will PM you
