lower or not to lower

  M135i, 118 coupe
ok guys i have a 182 with cup packs and obviously the suspension, i was thinking of lowering it so would need to get springs or whatever but what about the handling as surely the point of havin the cup suspen is for the better handling? ideas and advice.thanks liam

  182 and 5 GTT
Ive got cup suspension and apex springs. Depends on your budget really. Coilovers are £££ where most springs are arround the £100 - £130ish mark. Apex give the best drop - 40mm. Eibach have 2 different springs, the sportline and pro i think. They are slightly more expensive than apex and dont lower as much, but give better handling apparently.

STANDARD!!!!!!

Million pound tested, change from standard and the ride goes to s**t, increase in tyre wear, increase in MPG etc...........................

The cup pack give stiffer suspension anyway, so ive not had a problem with the ride. If you get the tracking sorted they should be no extra wear on the tyres and how can springs affect your MPG?

You can buy the springs from GDI, Yozzasport etc.

  yep.
eh?

apex on mine are brilliant - sure its harsh but the turn-in is awesome!

million pound testing? so what, they cant even screw 'em together right.

ban him? ;)

Mines lowered on Apex -40mm springs. About 80 quid from motorworld. I personally find the handling better than standard, especially fast cornering. Downfall, I have 17"s fitted and the front wheels scrape on slow full lock turns. MPG has not been affected, why would it?. :)

I wouldn't bother the brakes need sorting on the 182's frst IMO the handlings not bad for a standard car sure it rolls a bit but so does my car its no huge issue.

standard brakes aint that bad for fast road, suspension is set up for comfort however, with a fair bit of roll, lowered its sooooooooo much faster.

  182, SRT8, RS4, GT-R
H&R coilovers if you can stretch for them or eibach springs. H&R's are supposed to ride better than standard for comfort which is an added bonus!

Increased MPG - LOL One born every minute!!

182taunton - Get it lowered!!. You are right, only the springs are changed, the suspension struts (shocks) stay on.

Any decent garage will fit them for you. Don't forget to have the wheels tracked afterwards as lowering more than a few mm knocks the geometry out a bit.
