Lowering 16v

Im sure there are plenty of posts on this but I cant find anything right now!

Im looking to drop my valver which is sitting on 15" TSWs with (I believe) standard shocks and springs. I want to lower it but cant really afford a full kit just yet - only had the car 2 days - I have been offered GMax -35mm springs which I may go for but have seen that Apex offer a -50mm spring set for similar money. Am I going to have any joy with these on standard shocks or would I need to upgrade those as well and maybe play with the arches?

35mm will be good for a valver !! remember they are lower than normal RTs etc !! go for 35mm and 45 at the back !!

Thanks, just going to order some -35mm SPAX springs from Demon Tweeks, not bad for under £40! Oh and I think I will add a PiperX induction kit to my shopping basket. Cant hurt.
