Lowering 16v!!

What do i need to lower my 16v and how much should i lower it?

Is it 2 front springs and then adjust the rear torsion bar? or should i go for 4 new shockers?

I just lowered mine 35mm using PI springs which were £38.

Seemed a cheap mod at first but then when I went to take the shocks off one of them was mullered by the monkey who put them on.

So only way to get it off was to grind off the top mount, shagging the shock in the proccess.

ended up buying a new pair of standard shocks £70, new top mounts £35 from renault (a bargain for two nuts with a bit of rubber) + the springs of course, total £143 and 6 hours work!

But have to say even though the back isnt done yet it feels awesome and already handles much much better than it did.

This could also be due to the fact that one of the old springs when taken out was 2 inches bigger than the other, i always said the handling was strange on chicanes but never thought odd springs could have been the problem!

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wouldnt bother. I reckon theyre sh*t hot as std.

Any lower/harder and i reckon on road performance would be compromised, especially down twisty bumpy roads.

In my opinion the only reason to lower a 16v is a asthetic one.

You either need 2 new springs or new dampers for the front, depending on how you wanna go. New springs will mean itll be stiffer but in turn wear out standard dampers a lot quicker. The torsion bar is simple a matter of jacking rear of car up, removing back wheels, pull out torsion bar both sides, jack arm or hubs up (depending on type of torsion bar) to however low you want it, put torsion bar back in either side, put wheels back on, lower car, see if its low enough, or in my case too low and end up raising it a little!!

Theres a guide on daz-uk.com for open torsion bars, mine was enclosed so if you do intend to do it and find yours to be enclosed, simply jack the hub up instead of the rear arm.
