LOWERING 40MM on 14" Steelies

Car  3 Series touring
Hey people, ^^ does the above sound like a good idea or will there be some serious scraping??

pics appreciated if anyone has them ....

Also anyone know what a garage would charge to fit springs?

Cheers
Ben

No scraping at all, with the 14" wheels it won't look too low either ie. there'll be a gap inbetween the arches, but will physically be a lot lower than standard.

Put it this way; I'm about -90mm, if not more, on 17" wheels and there isn't too much scraping! There's a guide on here on how to fit springs yourself, if you have the patience it will save you a lot of money. Garages usually charge around £50-100

Some garages will just rip you off, i called loads of places that gave me silly quotes on fitting, you just have to ring about. Finally got them fitted at a great price by gdi.

ahhh right, was just a bit worried that id be hitting speedbumps etc as theres quite a lot round here,

i usually have a full car though, any exhaust hitting back of speedbump issues??

saying that, a mate manages round here on a mk1 golf dropped on its ass

nahh just needs joweing and havn't seen any wheels for a good price yet, only got about £200 for rims and tyres :(

would it look s**t if i just did the rears for now...and then got the fronts done a bit later in the month?

Would look pretty crappy only doing the rear IMO. You'll have zero issues with the lowering, mine is on 60mm springs with 16" wheels and I have zero scraping no matter what speedbump/pothole/multistorey car park i throw at it and however many people I throw in the back. You'll get bored of 40mm btw, I did.

steels look good ;)

how low is that karl ??

gonna need some spring compressors for the front ??
not really into all the "...f**k it it'll be ok without them"

You definitely need compressors for the fronts in all circumstances with non-sports. Karl's was like -100mm on coilies haha.
